LOL for real! it's hard for me to imagine making that much money... but then again I freak out when I watch HGTV and see how much houses and things cost in other areas of the country. I mean where I live 250,000 buys you a big NICE house.
I honestly have no idea what our household income is. I believe it's between $45,000 and $50,000. I really don't bring in much, maybe 10k-12k a year.
If/When I start teaching I'll make $40k myself so we will double our income.

after I admitted that I haven't done it since! lol. and it was definitely not me. our household income is only about 35,000 a year, but like I said.. the cost of living where we are is relatively cheap.

Where I am, it's impossible to find a house for $250,000. If you do it's usually a bank owned fixer... Median home prices here are about 500-750 K
agh! that's what I mean, I grew up here and that totally blows my mind. if you want to spend that much on a house here you would literally only have a handful of options at any given time and they'd all be considered (IMO) mansions lol.

We're in NYC (Staten Island) and can't get a detached home in a decent area for under $450,000. =/
That totally blows my mind. Back when H and I were dating we rented a 1 bedroom apartment for $1400 a month. Our house cost us $620,000 and that is just above average for a house around here. I think I need to move.
I'm in NYC (Manhattan) and $250k would get you a studio apartment in a rough part of town. You would need at least $800k to purchase an apartment worth living in. My rent is over $4,000 and we live in a "large" one bedroom. Most people outside Manhattan would consider it a small one bedroom. It's got about 750 square feet. So yeah, incomes are very relative. My husband makes a lot of money but we don't have nearly as much disposable income as you would think. Daycare costs $2400/month around here, so it wasn't even worth it for me to go back to work (I earn much less than him). I'm not stressing out about the cost of diapers, but we're not exactly living in a lap of luxury either.
Same in NJ. We had to get a foreclosure just to get a home JUST under 400K.
