I knew I should have made 200-250k 250k-300k etc. now I'm curious!! lol. where I'm from over 200k is BIG time money.
I vote for a second poll for those ranges! I'm curious, too! 200k is definitely big money here, too!!
Same here! Those biitches need to set up a Dec mama GTG and foot the bill!
LOL for real! it's hard for me to imagine making that much money... but then again I freak out when I watch HGTV and see how much houses and things cost in other areas of the country. I mean where I live 250,000 buys you a big NICE house.

BOTB: I figured you clicked $250k+, bc you said you always click the one nobody picks, or was that Loves...
either way, it wasn't either of you two, so who clicked it? I want to be rich, too
after I admitted that I haven't done it since! lol. and it was definitely not me. our household income is only about 35,000 a year, but like I said.. the cost of living where we are is relatively cheap.

Where I am, it's impossible to find a house for $250,000. If you do it's usually a bank owned fixer... Median home prices here are about 500-750 K

agh! that's what I mean, I grew up here and that totally blows my mind. if you want to spend that much on a house here you would literally only have a handful of options at any given time and they'd all be considered (IMO) mansions lol.

yup, here too. Salaries / median household income are much higher here than where I grew up in western PA - but the cost of living evens it all out.
bahaha. nothing represents my breastfeeding journey better than a cow blinkie. haha actually maybe I should add that line to my sig. I'm going for slightly obnoxious but not quite full on obnoxious

There are a lot of variables to consider- like how old you are.... I am sure my 46 yr old DH is making more than a new or almost new graduate from college. Plus we have had more time to save and invest - raising our income/networth.
I live in one of the lowest cost of living cities in the county. You can buy nice 3 bedroom houses here for 80k-100k. We rent a 3 bedroom/ 2 bath 1800 sq foot house for $795 a month. We talk about moving but I don't think I could handle it. It would be so hard paying 250k for a house that would be 150k or less here.

That totally blows my mind. Back when H and I were dating we rented a 1 bedroom apartment for $1400 a month. Our house cost us $620,000 and that is just above average for a house around here. I think I need to move.

It has its pros and cons. The job market here has really picked up (the company I work for is adding 200+ new jobs in the next few months) but there isn't shiit to do here. Well there is some stuff but nothing compared to a major city. Teachers are in high demand, but its because we have lots of immigrants.

I'm in NYC (Manhattan) and $250k would get you a studio apartment in a rough part of town. You would need at least $800k to purchase an apartment worth living in. My rent is over $4,000 and we live in a "large" one bedroom. Most people outside Manhattan would consider it a small one bedroom. It's got about 750 square feet. So yeah, incomes are very relative. My husband makes a lot of money but we don't have nearly as much disposable income as you would think. Daycare costs $2400/month around here, so it wasn't even worth it for me to go back to work (I earn much less than him). I'm not stressing out about the cost of diapers, but we're not exactly living in a lap of luxury either.
yeah, answering this poll made me feel rich (DH makes a lot) yet astonished that our money seems to vanish into thin air where we live. Our rent is $2K (2BR) and our heating this winter was $500/month...no we did not keep it overheated; just 65 or so. Our nanny is about $2K/month, not including the taxes we'll have to pay for her at the end of the year. I LOVE our nanny but I can't wait for daycare to start in Sept, because it will cost $1500/month. Everything else we do is similarly expensive where I live.
it all depends on where you live. we do make over $200k, and yet we cannot afford to buy a house here.. so yeah, anywhere else it IS a lot of money. i'm from CO and there, it is a lot money! yet in LA, it really is not. our 2-bedroom, 850sq ft house is $2500/month in rent, and would cost us $700k if we wanted to buy it. makes me want to move, yet i kinda love it here. haha.. you take the good with the bad, i suppose.

I honestly have no idea what our household income is. I believe it's between $45,000 and $50,000. I really don't bring in much, maybe 10k-12k a year.
If/When I start teaching I'll make $40k myself so we will double our income.

We're in NYC (Staten Island) and can't get a detached home in a decent area for under $450,000. =/

Same in NJ. We had to get a foreclosure just to get a home JUST under 400K.
