Fatigue at 8 weeks

Hello Ladies!  I just joined this site over the weekend.  I'm enjoying it so far.  I wanted to introduce myself and say hello to you all.  It's so wonderful to have a place to connect with other women here.

My husband and I have been married for a year and a half and are still beamy with the blessing God has given us!!  I'll be 9 weeks pregnant this Wednesday.  We've had our first ultrasound and baby looks good! =)

I am 33 and have been experiencing a lot of fatigue and nausea the past week. Apparently the progesterone spike is active now which is most likely contributing to my fatigue.

Are any of you dealing with fatigue?  Do you have any recommendations?  I work full time and can't just nap when I feel I need to....I make up for it on the weekends by taking two hour naps each day though! ;)

Re: Fatigue at 8 weeks

  • Yes.  it's rough.  I'm home with a 2 and 4 year old, so no naps for me either.  Can you take a little nap when you get home from work?  Go sit in your car and close your eyes for a few minutes over  lunch?  I go to bed very early- the boys are in bed by 7:30-8 and I'm literally right behind them.  Try to keep up with eating and drinking too......other than that, I wish I had a magic answer!  the end is near :)

  • yup. it hit me HARD around 5 weeks and has only slightly lessened. i still wake up feeling like i didn't sleep enough and pass out before 9 every night. and on the weekends, it's all i can do to drag my butt off the couch.

  • Ugh, I can certainly relate! I'm 31, work full time, and just hit 8 weeks this past Friday. I have been super tired since about 5-6 weeks. I am finding it hard to cook dinner, pack up lunch for the next day, keep the house clean, AND work. I seriously could go to bed right now! I don't know how I'll do this once a baby is here. HA!

I have no magic trick either, I'm just going to bed as early as I can....like, when the chores/dinner are done, I pretty much turn in. Sleep is my BFF right now.  If I'm having a really rough day and have a headache, a little bit of caffeine goes a long way....way further than it used to. :) Good luck!

  • I can't offer any advice but I can offer my sympathy!  I am in the same boat.  I'm 10 weeks and dragging all over town.  Just try to get as much sleep as you can.  Let yourself pick up something pre-made for dinner and get your booty to bed!

My fatigue was really bad at 8 weeks, so I hear you!  I had given up caffeine, but I couldn't take being so tired.  I started having a mini-can of Coke at lunch (1pm) to help me get through the afternoon.  Having a sugary snack (raisins) for the drive home helped and then I napped until dinner.  We ordered a lot of take out and had some frozen dinners on hand.  DH was at his wits end, but he was very understanding.  It lasted about a week, then I felt better for a few days, then it came back for a couple days.  It seems to be better now.  Good luck!!
  • Wish I could give some good advice but unfortunately I'm dealing with the fatigue and some insomnia as well....... I haven't slept a full night since I've been pregnant (minus a few seldom lucky days)... seems to be getting a little more bearable so perhaps its better. I find I'm up 4-5 times a night to go to the bathroom, despite trying to cut off liquids before 7 PM. All I can say is many of us are here with you..... hopefully in second tri it will get better!
  • Thanks Ladies! I'm finally starting to feel better. Hope you all are too!!
