AW on my mom

Just felt the need to brag on my mom today.  When I was in high school, my dad was afraid every day that he'd come home and find that we had killed each other.  But now we're practically best friends, and even though she drives me crazy sometimes, it's really cool to see how excited she is to be a grandmother.  Especially since we found out it's a girl.  This weekend she gave me a bag of some of my baby clothes that she had been setting back just in case (and baby will be born around my birthday, so they are season appropriate), and she took me out shopping and got a couple more things for baby.  I'm going to have to cut her off at some point, or she'll be broke before the baby gets here!

She works 5 minutes from my house, so we have lunch together all the time.  I told her my concerns today about not gaining enough weight, and she offered to bring me a big greasy cheeseburger.  I think I can force myself to eat that.  Smile

    LOL, I know! Craziness. But I love them. I grew up in the Detroit-Metro and they are like everywhere and super cheap. They also have the BEST moz sticks everrrr.

    I hope I didn't ruin your lunch!

    That's awesome!  I had a similar relationship with my mom during the high school years.  As soon as I moved away for college, it improved and we are very close now.  I think her feelings were a little hurt that I didn't invite her to join us at the a/s Wednesday but that was a moment I wanted to share only with DH.  She's bought several baby items so far and it's only going to get more intense once she knows if she is going to have a grandson or granddaughter.

    omg what??/ id kill for white castle right now.. fresh white castle! That sounds fantastic but the closest one is TN.. I had them all the time when I lived in jersey.. darn you sunflower..

    That is wonderful. My mom is the same way. My DS was her first grandchild. She watched him everyday for the first year and then we gradually put him in day care a few days a week. She still has him 2 days a week and he is in love with her. It is great to see. Now with this LO she said she will watch her the first year also. Let me tell you, it is so hard to leave a baby and go to work, but to have your mom there to watch is the next best feeling :)

    I had a terrible relationship with my mom in high school too. When I moved 4 hours away our relationship changed a lot. My oldest son is her pick of all her grandchildren. It's obvious too. With all of the grandchildren though, she has made homemade blankets and bought several small items. Every one of my pregnancies she has bought 2 maternity tops and she gets tickled thinking that THIS baby could be the little girl. I have noticed her making a very spring like blanket where the boys blankets were obvious they were for a boy. I will make comments on my FB like "Could really go for some home baked goods" mom will reply. "Gotta get some flour and we'll see you here in a bit!"
