Lightheaded, Dizzy & Nauseated

Anyone else feeling this way? Today is really bad for me. I feel like I would feel so much better if I just went to bed and laid still. I'm trying not to use my PTO time at work though this early on. At the Dr. last Wednesday, my BP was 112 over something, so I'm betting my BP is low and that's part of the problem.

  • I had this over the weekend - I almost passed out in the grocery store.  I think it was most likely low blood sugar because I was STARVING when it happened.  I talked to my doc about it and he said it also can be because of the low blood pressure.  He said to start taking some iron - I did and it is amazing how much better I feel this morning.  Oh an he also said to stop laying on my back - once the baby/uterus gets to a certain size, it starts cutting off a major artery, thus causing the dizziness.

  • Ive been feeling this way alot as well.  I think it is because I am so nauseas most of the time that nothing sounds appetizing and I dont want to eat.  Then I think since I am not eating often enough I get dizzy and light headed.  Then I eat and I feel like I am going to throw up.  Never ending cycle :( blah.

  • Ughhhh...tell me about it. I also felt this way this past weekend, including throwing up! I didn't leave the house-it was that bad. It's not as bad when you're at home, but to have to be at work when you feel like this...it really hurts to be awake! Zofran helps a bit but not completely. I slice up some lemons and put it in a cup of water, then lots of ice! It seems to keep the nausea at bay. I really hope this feeling passes soon!

  • I have this also, and I think it is a combination of low blood sugar and getting up too quickly. I now make sure I eat something or even drink some juice every 2 hours or so to keep my blood sugar up and try to give myself time to adjust before getting up, especially from a lying/reclined position.

  • Yeah, I get this a lot, and I did with Jack as well.  I found that drinking a big glass of water and just sitting or laying still for a little while typically helped me out.

  • Your BP doesn't sound low at all, some people just have naturally low bp.  Mine is consistently around 90/60 or less and that's normal for me and has been for years.  It's when it gets higher that I should worry.

Sorry you're not feeling well, I haven't really felt like myself since getting pg! If it's not one thing, it's something else it seems.

Your Body in Week 12 of Pregnancy
If all those changes in your baby sound dizzying, that may just be you dealing with yet another problematic pregnancy symptom: Lots of women experience occasional dizziness and/or feel faint due to progesterone, which causes increased blood flow to your baby by relaxing your own blood vessels. The decrease in blood flow to your body and brain, along with typically lower blood-sugar levels during pregnancy, can set your world a-spinning. Do your part to keep your equilibrium by eating regularly, getting adequate rest, and standing up slowly.

Thanks for finding that and sharing!
