So? I got over my fear, took your advice, and talked to HR. Apparently my complaint is not the first to be brought against him. He has had complaints for both racial and sexual harassment. They said it was good that I came forward, since not enough people do. They agreed that his comments were way over the line, which made me feel better and less like a hormonal tattle-tale.

Thank you so much for all your support. I am so glad I found this board and that everyone is so kind and supportive.

I am not surprised. I hope he gets fired. He needs to be put in his place. I am surprised that they haven't already let him go due to the previous comments. Hopefully yours shows a pattern of behavior and he is gone.

Like PPs, I'm really glad you said something, too! It's really unfortunate that the jerk has struck before, but it doesn't really surprise me. Hopefully he'll get what's coming to him sooner than later. Way to have courage!

Good for you. So many people in a position of authority KNOW that others will be scared (or, like you, think it's just them being oversensitive)......so they think they can keep saying stuff like that and not get reported. Unfortunately, they keep doing it until enough people speak up. Imagine for every ONE person that has made a complaint, several probably have not.
