Faint BFP on 14 DPO, then BFN?

Hello all -

I received a BFN on 13 DPO but decided to check again on 14 DPO and had a very very faint BFP (I used clearblue digital for the first test and first response for the second). AF was due Friday, which would have been 15 DPO. It didn't come. I did have some light cramping on 14 DPO but haven't felt anything since then. I tested again using a dollar store test and an EPT test on 15 DPO and they were both BFN. I tested again this morning, 16 DPO and one day late for AF and it was also negative, and I used another first response. What do this mean? I don't know if this matters much at all, but this morning I had gotten up around 4:30 and peed, even though I knew I should have been holding it until I actually got up to take the test. (Sorry if this is TMI) I should also mention that I had light, brown spotting on 8 DPO. I do not spot between AF's, ever. I am also usually very regular, except last month I was about 3 days early. I know how I feel the days leading up to AF and besides the cramping I had on 14 DPO, I haven't had any other AF symptoms. As far as PG symptoms, besides the spotting, my bb's have been sore, and tingly. I was very emotional on 13 DPO which is unlike me. With the spotting I thought for sure it was implantation bleeding, since like I said, I have never spotted between AF's. I'm so confused by the BFP and then the subsequent BFN's. Could it be that my HcG is not "potent" enough for the test, or was I pregnant and then MC'd? I don't even want to type the word, that's how afraid of it I am. This is DH's & I third month TTC our first.

Any advice or words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated!

Do you chart? How do you know how many DPO you are?

Yes Yes, do you chart?

You aren't out until you get AF so I would just wait it out.

Sorry, should have included that in the original post. I chart my ovulation and feel cramping the day I'm ovulating. Since it usually falls around the same time every month, I used a first response ovulation predictor and it confirmed the LH surge the night before ovulation. We BD'd 3 times before, every two days, as well as the day of, and the day after.

So you chart based on O-pain, not BBT or CM or OPKs?

I would keep testing and contact your doc if you don't get your period before CD60. You may have O'd later than usual this month or not at all. It's impossible to tell if you don't chart your temp.

I am going to shoot it to you straight lady....

If you got a bfp faint or not - and then ceased to get one as DPO increased. It is likely that you had a chemical pregnancy. So I will repeat the words of predecessors : Test once a week until you either get a positive or get AF after 60 days if neither happens seek medical attention.

She said she did use an OPK, but as we all know.... just because you get a + opk doesnt mean you O.

This same thing happened to me...faint BFP at approx 12 dpo and 14 dpo and then BFN thereafter...ended up being a chemical pregnancy. My period in the end was about 5 days late. I don't chart or anything, so everything is approximate.

Doesn't necessarily mean this happened to you, just wanted to share my experience. Good luck and I hope it works out for you

I had a BFP at 11 DPO last year, then the next day I took another test and got a BFN. I still ended up being pregnant, so there could be hope.

I just wanted to add that just because something has "never happened before" it doesn't mean it can't happen now. Our cycles change when they want to, and can be influenced by many life factors. Just because your cycles have ALWAYS been the same, doesn't mean they have to be this time around - including symptoms. Sometimes even our TTC Brains like to think up new symptoms to torture us with!

As PP have said - test once a week until you get AF or BFP, and if you reach CD60 with neither see a doctor. GL.
