Big head concern question

My best friends son just turned 2 in August and the doctor is concerned about the size of his head. He has slower development than other 2 year olds and he doesn't really talk yet. I'm wondering, why are they concerned about the size of his head?

Re: Big head concern question

  • an enlarged head is called hydocephaly, and can be very dangerous. you can look it up on google to see the causes, etc. i hope that is not what he has.

  • DS and DD have humongous heads... the nurses come in and double check DD head twice at her appts usually.

Do you mean - a big head in general? or that his head is growing at a faster rate than normal for him?

  • He's got a big head in general but since his development is delayed they're worried. But his daddy has a big head too according to his GF!

  • They could be worried about extra fluid up there, I think its hydrocephalus, not hydo
