Pregnant after a Loss

My doppler is worth it's weight in gold

Three days in a row I've been able to pick up little Jedi's heartbeat with my doppler- within a few seconds of trying to find it. I can't believe how much the reassurance helps. I am almost more pregnant than I have ever been, though with my missed miscarriages this is the first time I have still had a baby with a heartbeat at 10w3d.

DH and I are very emotional about making it this far- and my doctor said everything looks perfect at this point. We've made it a quarter of the way, and today I will be celebrating.

After two losses, a rainbow arrived! DD born 11.5.11
Dx with severe Asherman's syndrome after a botched PP D&C (pursuing med mal)
Hysteroscopy Oct '13, not enough progress
Hysteroscopy Jan '14, given an end-of-the-road diagnosis
Joined International Asherman's Association April '14
Not ready to give up yet.
Hysteroscopy with Dr. Isaacson (an expert in the USA) 6.2.14: Good prognosis, at least 50% of cavity open.
Repeat hysteroscopy scheduled with Dr. I on 6.16.14. Great progress. Unbenched!!!!
Discussing actively TTC with DH after the heartache of the last year. We're both reeling.

Please, please, please.

Re: My doppler is worth it's weight in gold

  • What an awesome milestone!  Huge hugs your way!

I think I'm going to have to invest in a doppler, I hope it can help with peace of mind for me!

Here's a glass of gingerale to toast 1/4 of the way done!

  • Congrats!! 1/4 done! Such a milestone. In my head, 10w was a big one as well. I just hit 12w and am still amazed to be "this pregnant." I was about to post the same thing about my Doppler. It is so reassuring, esp on mornings like this when I wake up with no m/s or boob soreness. Love love love that sound.

  • That's wonderful! I love my doppler too. It kept me sane until I started feeling movement. It's also so beautiful to listen to when I get the urge to hear LO.

  • That is awesome!!  We have talked about possibly getting a doppler, but I know it would stress me out if I have problems finding it.  What kind did you get?

  • We have the sonoline B 3 mhz. I went into this pregnancy expecting the worst and cautiously hoping for the best. I think that mindset has allowed me to not completely freak out, and when I pull out my doppler it's more out of curiosity than a desperate need to hear the heartbeat. I'm trying really hard to keep my stress level down and that's the only way I've been able to do it. I would still greatly recommend the sonoline B to anyone- it's a really special thing to be able to hear your LO at home. (Also, I know that 10 week is still very early to be able to consistently hear a heartbeat. I've been fortunate to find it easily but I don't expect to be able to every time.)

  • Mine sucks! DH bought it for me for Christmas when I was pg last time, but it says on the box that it doesn't work until late in the 2nd trimester. SIL has the same one and it didn't work for her until 30wks. What's the point! I hate to spend money on another one but I might have to.
  • Yes  I'm sure this is a tough week for you.  I'm so glad you're staying calm and positive!

  • Yea!  I, too, have been contemplating a doppler purchase.  I'm trying to figure out if it will help or hurt my worry about this pregnancy........
