Ultrasound only showed sac at 5-6 weeks...anyone else?

I have a 7 month old and recently learned I am 5-6 weeks pregnant with my second child. Today I went for the first ultrasound and it only showed a sac...nothing else. Ultrasound tech said it seemed as though I was really early and urged me to come back in two weeks. Anyone else have this happen and go on to have healthy pregnancies?

has af been regular since you got it back after having your dd? if not, that could play a huge part in the discrepancy of dates. also, if you were really stressed, you could have o'd later than you thought you should have.

for a pregnancy at 5 wks, it's quite common to only see the sac, sometimes you'll also see the yolk sac. at 6wks, you can usually see the fetal pole and when you're closer to the 7wk mark, you should definitely be able to see a hb.

i've had u/s done at the 5wk mark and have had to go back in 2 wks later and was able to see the little one with a beating heart. did the tech say anything about the shape of the sac? if the sac looks good and is circular and not misshapen, that's a good sign too. good luck!

Abdominal or internal ultrasound? That can make a huge difference. At 5w4d with DS, I had an abdominal ultrasound, and we only saw a sac. It is completely normal.

this very thing happened to me, the ultrasound was just too early. Iwould not worry too much.

Yes, I went in at what I thought was 6 weeks 1 day and there was only a sac. Went in 3 weeks later (was on a trip to the UK) and there was a beautiful little baby with a strong heartbeat. They determined I was a week off due to late ovulation. I would keep a very positive mind set as SO MUCH can changed in a couple of weeks. It?s truly amazing.

Yep - I went in at what I thought was 5w 6d and there was nothing but a tiny black dot on the screen. I went back two weeks later and what I thought was 7w 4d and the baby was measuring 6w 5d....so I was 6 days further behind than I thought due to longer cycles. This could easily be the case. Try not to stress, apparently, even a day or two can make a HUGE difference. Congrats!

It was a vaginal ultrasound. I guess what worried me was because the last time I was pregnant (7 weeks) I could already see Gracyn on the ultrasound. My period has been regular since have her in September. I'm hoping everything is okay. This pregnancy is a complete shock to us as we weren't in anyway trying since I had a pregnancy-related blood clot in November and was hospitalized in ICU and on various blood thinners and clot busting medicine. The clot is still present in my hip so this pregnancy is already high-risk. I didn't think I would want a second baby so soon but I know I will be devastated if anything were to go wrong along the way.

Good luck! I am in a similar situation at 5 wks and 4 days pregnant with a gestational sac, yolk sac but no fetal pole. Waiting is seriously hard!

Yep! that happened to me

i was worried too, but dont worry! That little sac is the beginning of your beautiful baby! Dont stress about it just relax soon you will be able to see a little growing baby in there. I am in my fourth month now and all is well healthy active and growing little one inside of me (that looked like a little sac at week 6) hehe. Chin up, dont stress, you cant make your baby grow any faster by stressing, breathe, enjoy this time of super tiny baby in your belly.

I went in 5w and saw a gestational sac, 2 days later we saw the gestational sac & yolk sac, one week later (today) we saw the gestational sac, yolk sac & fetal pole. Hopefully you are just early. H&H!
