P90X

I'm finishing day 5 and I'm loving (and hating) P90X. I'm fascinated by the fact that I can no longer do a sit-up. A regular old sit-up. In Ab Ripper X, you do the wide-leg sit-ups, and I'm convinced it's because of my two c-sections within 16 months of each other. Does anyone else have this problem? I already feel better for having done 5 days of workouts and for having followed the nutrition plan to a tee, but do find that there are several moves I can't do (the diving push-ups in arms and chest, pull-ups, etc.) I'm just modifying to do it as I can. Hoping to get rid of this tummy flap I now have. What kind of results have those of you doing P90X had so far?

Re: P90X

  • i cant do half the pushup moves or any of the rolling stuff or vup things. (like superman-banana for example....it hurts where i got my spinal SO BAD) i have been doing P90X for 12 days now & i have lost 3 pounds but im discouraged bc of all the moves i cant do...i mean for the most part i am ok but basically anything where you roll or do pushups i cant do. i also feel like its more for guys with ALL THE DAMN LIFTING! haha so i am actually going to finish this week out with P90X and then switch to INSANITY on monday.

  • Oh my gosh!  I cant wait to start it!  So  I'm four weeks out of my c-section.  How long did you wait before you started this craziness?  My doc cleared me for working out but I'm a little scared.

My girlfriend recommeded P90X.  She had amazing results but you seriously HAVE to stick with it!  She gained almost 70 lbs with her pregnancy and looks better now then when she was in college!

Good Luck!  Keep us posted on your success!

  • I'm so glad you posted this.  I just tried Ab Ripper for the first time and I couldn't believe that I actually cannot do a full sit up.  I think I'll just keep trying and hopefully I'll be able to work up to it.

  • I'm starting monday, and I can hardly wait! I hate how weak I have become since delivering. Please keep us posted on your results.

  • Thanks so much for getting back to me, everyone. I'm on day 12. It's so hard! I missed working out on Sunday and then again yesterday, but have stuck to the diet very well. I'm trying not to beat myself up about missing, but instead keep telling myself that I'm already doing more than I was before, and I'll start again tomorrow. I'm not as sore as I was the first week, and feel better already. I've lost one pound, but I'm sure have gained muscle. My husband thinks I'm toning up. :)  I'll keep you posted. I just want to get rid of the c-section tummy and tone my butt and legs so I don't feel ridiculous in a bathing suit again this summer. I had my DS (second child) last April, so last summer was a bust as far as feeling good at the pool.
  • I know I'm late posting to this one, but the sit-up thing made me laugh.  I, too, was amazed to discover I couldn't do sit-ups PP.  There is hope!  I am 30 days in and I feel so much stronger (and I can do some, but not very many, sit-ups!).  I haven't lost any weight, but I have noticeably lost some of the PP flab so I'll take it.  GL all!
