just saw a person on facebook feeding their 2.5 month old solids, and i thought to myself "who does that nowadays? seriousy?" and now i'm totally judging that person for it. that got me to thinking this question for you ladies:
What brings out the Judgy Von Holierthanthou in you?

Re: I judge you when...
Not a whole lot. I'm a pretty laid back parent. I think.
One thing that gets under my skin is parents who let their children wander. If your small child is farther than arms reach from you in a busy public place (including restaraunts) I give you the side eye. If your kid refuses to hold your hand, put a leash on him. I don't dig lost kids or seeing kids turn running from the parents through the parking lot a game.
You get an epidural.
JK!! Y'all can relax.
In all honesty, I don't side eye the solids thing, there are countries who recommend solids as young as 2 months with lower food allergy/obesity rates than the US, so to me it's a "to each their own" thing. Would I personally have started solids that early? No, but do I judge other people for doing it? No, it's their personal choice, and I don't see the point in getting on a high horse about it unless the child very obviously is having adverse reactions/health problems because of it.
However, a part of me dies inside whenever I see a mom make their child wash their hands/use hand sanitizer a bajillion times a day. I understand the want to keep your kids well, but that's doing more harm than good IMO.
When people are hypocrites in saying they are religious and then treat everyone horribly in a way that completely discounts what they claim.
When the college students email me in a way that makes it obvious they think they are texting me.
ITA with this. I totally posted about this a few months ago but I went to dinner with a friend who had a 2.5 year old. She let him run under other people's tables and at one point he was across the room under a couple's table making a poopy face and she had the ballls to yell across the room and ask him if he was pooping.
I had general anesthesia and it blew. Thanks for triggering my issues you slore.
I judge you when...
You think you know better than me about parenting and you have no kids!
I have a friend who told me that E "needs to learn the hard way" because she doesn't STTN and continued to say if she was me, she would use ear plugs. First of all, CIO is not the way to go IMO and second, that is just plain cruel considering E uses night time meetings to be close to me or at least that's how I see it since I'm a working mom.
I judge parents that give their LO's fast food and/or soda.
I read online that french fries are the #1 vegetable in kid's diets in America.
It is a major pet peeve of mine.
hes all boy my arse, he would get a all boy spanking. that would not fly at all with me.
I'm pretty laid back too. I'm all about "to each their own" too, and I think that everyone has their own parenting style and that's fine.
However, I do judge people who...
Give their small babies rice cereal in their bottles JUST to get them to sleep longer at night (obviously different if it's a medical issue like acid reflux, etc.)
People who let their kids scream throughout the store and just ignore them. I see this a lot where I live.
I sort of judge people who CIO. I have a friend who said she let her son CIO at 4 months, the first night they put him in his crib. She was like, "He cried for an hour the first night, but only like 10 minutes a night for a while after that." and I was like
. I just don't see how you can do that. She also has stopped giving her almost 3 month old baby (who has severe acid reflux and colic) her middle of the night bottle. She's like "she's STTN! I just give her her binky instead, and yeah she cried the first few nights, but then she knew she wasn't going to get that bottle anymore, so now she just takes her binky. They just get used to waking up and after a certain age they dont really need that night time feeding." Again with the
. Love her, but that's just not my parenting style. If my kid needs her middle of the night bottle, she's gonna get it.
Edit: I'm not really judging my friend, per se, I just have the exact opposite parenting style as her. She was trying to give me the advice of CIO and not giving DD her midnight feeding, because DD still wakes up once a night to eat. I personally don't see anything wrong with that, but ya know... to each their own.
I don't get the whole CIO thing either. I haven't gotten a full night's worth of rest since I was 7 months pregnant and I'm still willing to get up.
I would be
with all of this too. If she's anything like my friend, she probably got ear plugs as I posted above.
Bwahaha!
I think that's different. Things like the Ferber method, don't really bother me. You're not just letting them CIO for hours until they finally are worn out enough to go to sleep.
I mean, I let DD "fuss it out". If she's grunting, moving around for a few minutes I let her be. But I can tell when it starts getting to more of a whine, or she's going to start crying, and that's when I go in. There's a huge difference between "fussing it out" and CIO.
I judge people who perch their car seats on top of shopping carts, particularly when the stores really busy. It's an accident waiting to happen.
Also to each his own when it comes to feeding your child but I judge when I feel judged. I think exclusive BM is the best thing for my baby through at least 6 months, and I don't like being told I should have already started solids. Those people are usually the ones who start their LO on cereal at 3 months, and I feel no child is ready that early (my experience IRL, not here)

Me either, I just take the stroller for small trips and tell Molly to hold the wine for me.
People who drive 5 or more miles/hr under the speed limit and hang out in the fast lane.
People who are/were actively trying to get pregnant while in extreme debt and then complain about their circumstance.
Women who wear pant/shorts/skirts that say things like juicy, sexy, hotty, or princess on their a$$.
I don't know your story, but do you have another kid? You have a medfree badge, but this is the 2nd time I've seen you say you had a c section with general. I'm not judging, but my brain can't reconcile the 2 so can you please clarify?
I side eye people who put their kid on a leash. I know some kids need it but at the same time it just looks horrible. They are not an animal. It still doesnt help when the kid is throwing them self on the floor and you drag them (for realz, I saw it happen at our WalMart.). To me its just parents being lazy and not wanting to keep an eye on their kids (flame if you must). I just really don't understand it and maybe its wrong for me to judge something I don't fully understand but i do. (Also I'm not talking about airports and busy places like that, I'm talking about like more as a general use on a day to day basis.)
My kid either sat in the cart or held my or my hubby's hand, whether he wanted to or not.
Right?? And the kicker is, she would have to pay her daycare person $80 less a month if he was out of diapers. Not only do you have to buy diapers, but you're paying an extra $20 a week? Madness.
Not parent related but I judge the people I work with that have bad teeth. I know they have the same dental insurance I do so why are you letting your teeth rot out of your head?
ETA: I mean rotted tooth stubs when I say bad teeth. Crooked teeth are natural.
Seriously. This blows my mind!

Is it laziness? Is it some underlying medical issue that she doesn't want to discuss? Unknown.
I can understand all of this but after seeing my brother as a kid and how my mom had to leash him I get it. Granted he was only leased at the fair, the mall things like that. She had one of the wrists ones originally (basically soft handcuffs lol) My mom was checking in and felt him tugging on the strap so thought he was there, she looks up 20 secs later and he had attached it to the luggage and was making a break for it. He was also a monster baby 31lbs at a year old, so carrying him all the time wasn't going to happen.
Have you tried talking with her about it? Whats gonna happen when he has to start kindergarten? They won't let him in if he's not potty trained (from what I have heard). Goodness. Poor kiddo. And if it is a medical issue she should really get him help. But if it's just her being lazy she needs to get on it! Boys are pretty darn easy to potty train.
Amen!
