**artsake**

Question about your name post - I wasn't sure if you'd see this if I wrote it there....but are you concerned with people not know she's a girl when they just see her name?  That's what I'm hung up on.  DH and I are really liking the name we have in mind, but it's unisex and I don't want people to assume I have two boys when they see their names. Just wondering what your thoughts are?  (I think your name is very cute, btw).

  • Yeah...  I don't know!  I'm not so concerned about that, because they'll know the second they see her.  I guess after my post on baby names I didn't expect soooooo much negativity!  People were practically scolding me.  I mean, I know traditionally it's a boy's name, but she won't be the first girl ever named Dylan.  If you look in the media, Drew Barrymore was Dylan in Charlie's Angels and one of the daughters on Desperate Housewives was a Dylan.  Not that I'm looking to Hollywood for inspiration, but it's not like it has never been done before...  I guess I was just really taken back by how adamantly people felt that she would be made fun of for the rest of her days!

  • I know...they can be really harsh on that board.  I don't think she'll be made fun of her whole life!  I just wanted to see what you thought.  The name we are considering has "girl" versions of the spelling, but I want her to be able to find things with her name on it - you know?  I remember how my little sister was always so mad when everything was spelled Brianna and she was Briana.  I wish it was easier to pick a name!
