After touring the only hospital my OB's office delivers at last night I can say I do not want to deliver there! It was way too modern and business like. We toured a birthing inn the night before and loved the feeling of the whole place, it is connected to a hospital. The staff were all really nice and personable.
In order to deliver at the birthing inn I would have to change OB's because my office does not deliver there. Has anyone changed OB's at 27 weeks? Do they even allow you to? I'm not that attached to any of the OB's at my current practice. I've had the same GYN for the past 10 years but I have a 1 in 5 chance of her delivering my kid. Should I call my insurance 1st? My OB's office hasn't been charging me anything, not even co-pays because its all part of 1 bill they send to the insurance company after I deliver.
Re: Anyone change OB's this late in Pregnancy?
I changed from an OB to a midwife at 21 weeks and it was no big deal. It was b/c I moved & also wanted to deliver at a different hospital. No one cared. I did notify my insurance company & made sure to sign a release of medical records from my OB's office & ultrasound reports to the new midwife group & ultrasound group. Make sure you do it a few weeks in advance before your 1st appointment.
