Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Does you baby do this?

My LO is 6 months today!

When he tries to crawl, he puts one clenched fist underneath his body and then uses the other arms to pull himself forward. I guess I dont really know how to explain it. Do you think this in normal? He uses both arms for everything else (grasping, eating, pulling hair!!!).

I just get nervous that something is wrong because of the issues he had when he was born. He has been to every specialist on the planet and do far so good but I cant help but be a little worried, I guess.

Yep, my DS does this! He just had his 6 month appt. yesterday, and the pedi didn't seem concerned about it at all. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before our LOs will figure out the dynamics of crawling. I know it's hard not to worry, but hang in there!

  • My almost 11 month old niece does this. We were actually thinking she might just skip crawling altogether, but she's army crawling now.

Caleb kind of bypassed this (though he could pull himself around - he mostly would stick his butt way up in the air and use his toes to launch himself forward) and does the traditional crawl.

  • Very common! My gf's son and my nephew do this.

  • J just started doing this weird thing where he reaches forward and grabs something, pulls himself forward, then pulls his knees under him and tucks his chin to chest, then right before he straightens outs, he falls over to the side.
