Hi Ladies,
I am about to begin my first IVF. We have MFI and I seem to be checking out okay. I am in an infertility support group and everyone seems to be doing IVF's that do not work, even with multiple tries.
I'm getting very emotional about this. I was hoping to hear some first time IVF success stories. Thanks!!!

Our diagnosis is severe MFI, and we were successful (so far) on IVF/ICSI try #1. I technically have mild PCOS, but I don't really buy that diagnosis as all of my bloodwork came back fine and I do not have cystic ovaries.
Are you using ICSI? How severe is your MFI?
I'm happy to answer any of your questions. Good luck!

We didn't have MFI, we were unexplained IF.
Our first 1/2 IVF, 1/2 ICSI cycle did work out for us. Wishing you lots of luck with your cycle!
We have 0% morph, about 6 % motility and very low count... about 100,000. Something that our clinic did that really helped DH was that DH went before our IVF cycle started and froze a back up sample. It really took the pressure off of DH on the day of our ER. And I knew that there would be enough sperm, even if his condition worsened or he got sick, etc. Don't know if that's an option for your situation, but just wanted to offer it up.

Good luck sweetie!
Our diagnosis was severe MFI due to MH having testicular cancer at age 16. Our only option was IVF w/ICSI after mTESE. After several tests, we found out he had retrograde ejaculation with a veeerrrryyyy small amount of sperm in the urine samples. After doing the mTESE, they recovered 10 vials of sperm (enough for 10 rounds of IVF). The motility was only about 9% but still usable for IVF w/ ICSI. We were successful on our first try!
Best of luck to you - MFI is really difficult!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
We got pregnant with our first round IVF w/rescue ICSI, after 2 failed IUIs. And, we're having twins! Don't give up hope!!
ETA: we were diagnosed as unexplained but DH always had borderline low numbers. Although not officially diagnosed with MFI, I'm thinking there was a little something going on there.
Thinking of you...
I got pregnant with this baby on our first IVF attempt. I had been pregnant twice on my own previously, but both ended in miscarriage. After trying for almost a year again, we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility (nothing is wrong with either of us). Did 3 IUIs and none worked. With the IVF, we transferred 2 grade 2 embryos, but only one stuck. Half of my eggs were fertilized with ICSI, and the other half conventionally. The embryos we transferred consisted of 1 from each group. I greatly believe that doing acupuncture in the months leading up to my procedure helped immensely. It de-stressed me and my body felt completely different from the treatments (I did it for stress and infertility).
As for MFI, my sister's friend (the guy) and his wife just got pregnant from their first IVF attempt. He produces very little to almost no sperm.
TTC #1 since 7/08 After 3 years, 2 losses, 3 rounds of IUI, and one round of IVF, we finally have our dream come true! DS born 7/30/11
TTC #2 off and on since 7/12
Another one here with severe MFI and a BFP on our first IVF. It's definitely possible, and actually seems pretty common when dealing solely with MFI.
Best of luck to you!

Clomid cycle 1-3 - BFN IUI 1-3 - BFN
We were successful with IVF w/ICSI #1 (after 2 canceled cycles because my body went nuts on Lupron). We are MFI -- low count, motility, morphology and retrograde ejaculation. We tried 3 medicated IUIs, but each time, DH's numbers got worse and the RE encouraged us to move on. I'm glad we did!
Good luck!
We got pregnant with our first IVF w ICSI. Dx was borderline MFI and DOR. At our initial consult we were given a 15% chance of IVF working, but we actually had a great cycle. I credit acupuncture, eating healthy, yoga and meditation to helping us have such a great cycle. We are expecting our little girl in 3 weeks now after over 3 years of TTC. Its amazing!
Good luck.
I'm still very early on (6w5d) so I'm super nervous about the pregnancy, but the fact is I'm pregnant so IVF worked for us the first time! I'm still feeling really shocked and lucky. We have moderate MFI (low motility and morphology - but not dismal - plus previously high and more recently borderline DNA fragmentation) and DOR (always a challenge when attempting IVF).
I think it's a combination of a good doctor, a good lab, the right protocol and a lucky cycle. I hope all of it comes together for you!
Im hoping IVF #1 works! clomid 1-6 BFN, IUI 1-3 BFN
Any complications with injectables?
