Tell me about your underwear

Have you had to purchase new lady garments yet?

(if not) Are you getting close to considering new ones?

Do you think you will change the style of underwear? ie: no more thongs, more thongs, more granie panties, boy short style, those kind they sell that actuall roll up and down like full panel mat pants?

When/if you do switch, will you consider maternity undies, or will you just buy regular ol' hanes her way (or Victoria's Secret if you're fancy) , just one size up?

Is none of this pertinant to you since you like to kick it Rambo style? (Let's discuss the PP ramifications of that btw)

Several of my regular cotton thongs have given up the ghost in the past few weeks, and I'm trying to decide if I sould get some mat undies or get some larger sized undies or what!?

The scene from 9 months where Hugh Grant is folding the laundry keep popping in my head...

Re: Tell me about your underwear

  • I will just wear my regular undies the whole pg as I did with my others. (thongs most of the time, btw)
  • Loading the player...
  • I love my Hanes her way. The no-ride-up ones.

  • For right now, I'm just wearing my regular underwear (thongs) during the day, but when I get home, I put on pj pants with no underwear. Since I haven't been pregnant before, I don't know when/if I'll switch to a diff kind, but if thongs get uncomfortable, I'm sure I'll switch to something else (much to the chagrin of DH)

  • I stopped wearing thongs (except in outfits where it's important to avoid lines) after my DD was born thanks to hemorrhoids. I am avoiding my super pretty undies and I'm wearing my more practical Hanes cotton briefs... way more comfortable, absorb the extra moisture, etc.

  • I generally wear thongs or boy shorts, depending upon the pants (no VPL at work!).  I am going to transition to wearing solely boy shorts eventually- they just seem more comfortable lately.

  • I FINALLY finished my progesterone this week.  No point in wearing pretty panties with that stuff.

I'm going with granny panties. hanes/fruit of the loom/something. My incision from my last c/s is a factor too. If I rub it too much (underwear), then it HURTS!

  • We have business dress code here at work, so I wear thongs M-F to avoid VPLs. In the evening when I get home from work, I put on either yoga pants (if I'm going to go outside or out in public) or PJ pants (for those lazy evenings) sans underwear. On the weekend when I sport jeans, I wear bikini brief underwear or other cotton "butt underwear" I have in my possession.
  • I wear stretchy lace thongs during the day, but just added a pantiliner for obvious reasons. I switch to full bottomed bikinis at night with pajama pants. I will not buy maternity underwear, but did expand my collection of full bottomed cotton ones recently knowing they would become more useful to me.

So funny this is exactly what I do! My SO always makes fun of me a little and says really, you're just going commando? lol.

  • I have been thinking the same exact thing recently.  My current undies are starting to get a little small and I feel as if my butt crack is hanging out.  I typically wear briefs or boy shorts.  I am thinking I am going to try and hold out until Victoria's Secret has their Semi-Annual sale and I can pick up some new bigger ones for a cheaper price.  Or I may just head to Target or Walmart and pick up some cheapies.

I also don't want to scare my husband with my big granny panties!  He will see enough of those in the future!

  • I never bought maternity underwear last time and just wore my normal VS with the lace band. I do have to say, they'll never be the same stretch-wise in the waist again. I'll wear a thong for panty line reasons but not on a normal basis.

  • I'll wear cotton thongs my whole pg but then after C/S.  I will wear the meshy hospital panties and super huge granny  panties until I'm all healed up

  • I only wear VS low rise. They used to have the extreme low rise, but got rid of that line. I hate high rise, granny panty type of underwear.  This is what I wear 80% of the time (and thongs) and don't plan on switching.
  • I will get a size up in cheap cotton panties.  I figure between the amount of discharge that you have by the end of the third tri (even with pantyliners) and the bleeding for a few weeks after, I dont really want to mess up and stretch out all my regular underwear.

  • I'm surprised the concensus is almost unanimous for thongs.  Its not recommended to wear them during pregnancy due to the increased risk of vaginal infections and UTIs they can cause.  But, we do all have to pick our battles LOL   I stopped wearing them when I got pregnant with my son and never went back.  I wear cotton bikini style, got new ones only because I had gained some weight and needed a size bigger anyway.

  • I have super stretchy cotton/modal/spandex thongs from Target that are still working out just fine. I plan to stay in them as long as possible and am not sure what I will use after they aren't comfy anymore. We'll see then.

  • I actually just made a trip to VS a few weeks ago and bought some new underwear in a size up ....BUT I also discovered their "Lacie" line that has a One Size Fits All option!  I bought one pair (a thong) and I love them, I'll prob go back and buy a few more!

These are the underwear I LOVE!  I got them after I developed Vericose Veins in my lady bits during my last pregnancy because the elastics in my underwear started to bother me when said lady bits would swell.  I ended up buying them as my underwear of choice even when I wasn't pregnant. No elastic and soo freaking comfortable and panty line free.

This exactly. I'm reserving my thongs for pants that are tighter now, and leggings. I love boy shorts, and get them mostly at VS. I will probably go up a size, as most of my smalls are uncomfortable, and some of my mediums are too, depending on the fabric. I just saw a commerical for no ride up--Hanes I think? I might try those too. I'm going to need some thongs for the summer though, as I plan to live in leggings, sprinkled with dresses.

I do the exact same thing too. Wear thongs every day (cotton Victoria's Secret) and when I get home i change into pj's with no undies. Way more comfy and DHof course doesn't mind :)

  • I wont be getting maternity undies. I didn't with the last one either.

I don't wear thongs, I wear VS cheekies practically everyday.

  • I need some temporary new underwear soon. Right now, that's where my bump is, so my current undies are getting a little snug. Once the bump moves up, I think I'll be okay with underwear under it, but for now I'm going to just go up a size.
  • I wear lacy cotton boy shorts from American Eagle or VS Pink bikini briefs (though I can tell these may get a bit small on me.  I've NEVER been a fan of thongs, I hate things riding up my butt, so I've pretty much always favored boy shorts, and hope to keep wearing them throughout pregnancy.

  • I used to be an exclusive thong wearer.. however, after being admitted into the hospital by surprise for a week, I realize I needed "hospital appropriate" underwear! haha... Those tied gowns don't leave much to the imagination if your bum is showing in a thong!

I have since purchased 2 packages of Hanes bikini undies... which I like to call granny panties, since I went from thong to those... My DH just laughs at me... since I have taken a liking to those over the thongs!

So, I think I'll just stick with my bikini undies for the pregnancy.

  • I wear an assortment now from g-string to full coverage (granny panties) I have found that I like the VS tongs with the lace stretch sides for going around my ever spreading hips and below my stomach.  They don't cut into my skin and aren't noticeable under tight clothes and the crotch is wide enough I can use a panty liner on days I need them.

I also have the no ride up Hanes granny panties, which I bought for my period and bloated days pre pg, but now I love them!  I will probably buy more for the duration of this pregnancy!

I will invest in more Wacole bras until I need a nursing bra!  Great support and wonderful coverage!

  • During the week I wear the "Lacie" thongs from VS - and they are the one size fits all kind that a pp mentioned. I wear them with my dress pants to avoid pantylines, but otherwise if I am wearing jeans I wear regular old Hanes bikinis and those are just fine.  I also have a few pair of bikini style from Aerie, I really like those as well.  All my underwear sit below the belly and I do not plan on buying any special maternity underwear (I never did with my first either)
