Hand pumps vs. Dual electric?

With my youngest son I exclusively breastfed then added a hand pump when I returned to work. I was wondering for those who use double electric pumps how fast can you empty both breast would it be more efficient to have an electric one, when I return to work; I will be very busy and work 12hrs.

Re: Hand pumps vs. Dual electric?

  • No question, you should get a double electric.  Pumping took me 15 minutes total (on a slow day) with mine when I went back to work.

  • Dual electric, hands down. You can't beat the efficiency in a pump. I had a dual electric and a single hand pump with DS. I only used the hand pump when I was out and felt overly full to the point that it was uncomfortable. The electric pump is 100x better!
  • Go for the dual electric.  It took me maybe 10 or 15 minutes to empty both.

  • I have both and using the dual electric at work took 15 minutes start to finish (including cleaning up).  The manual one I used sparingly and can't imagine using it daily at work to pump.  It would have taken forever!
