Sorry if this is dumb, but I do need some help. We're starting to PT DD and I want her in pull ups except for nap and bed when she'll be in a diaper. When she's wearing the pull ups, do they need to be changed even if she doesn't go potty in them? Or do we just keep the same pull up on until she has an accident? I didn't know if it was like a diaper that gets changed every couple hours regardless.
Thanks for any advice - or even PT tips!

Thank you!

For us Pull Ups were an excellent tool b/c Harmon got the pee concept down WAY before the poop concept.
The way we did it was that we got him really excited for the Pull Up b/c it is a Toy Story theme. We told him he could only wear it when he was ready to not pee in them. If he peed in them we were going back to diapers. He only peed once on purpose (not nap related or in the moment when he was really wrapped up in something and we forgot to take him) in them. We put him a diaper for the rest of the day. He never has peed on purpose since.
Now we are doing the same thing with poop. If he wants to wear real underwear he has to poop in the potty. If he wants to poop in his pants he gets a Pull Up. He loves Cars and Thomas the Train so the motivation for real underwear has worked. He is doing really well.
I'm glad we did one at a time b/c he got such a great mastery on one before the pressure for the other started. For us using his own motivation rather than telling him "it is PTing time" also made a huge difference (he is so stubborn). I hate messes and this really has been so painless.
Also if you have a smart phone, I got a Pull Ups Potty Watch on my IPhone. It is free and was great for reminding me to send him to the potty on regular intervals those early days. He loved playing with the app when I was home and when I was working I would send our nanny or pre-k teacher a text.
