Recommend your nursery furniture

Hello Ladies:

We are back in the market for a new nursery set for a couple of reasons.

#1- Max is still in his crib and I am not sure if he will be ready to fully graduate any time soon, which I am fine with.

#2- We bought the crip of Penneys and are very unhappy with the quality of it.  Its too soft of a wood and the paint (its white) is chipping off.  With that said I am very hestitant to buy again from an online retailer without being able to touch and feel the quality of the crib and dresser.

So, I am asking for your recommendations.  I am really wanting to get something that will convert into a full size frame for the future.  I want something that will not dent when my ring hits it the wrong way, etc.  We are budgeting around $1000 for a crib and dresser (we will use the top as our changing table).

Thanks Ladies :)

  • We got our furniture at pottery barn kids and I love it. You can definitely get a crib and dresser for $1000 or less. I think we spent around $1200 for the crib, dresser and changing table. We have the kendall crib, catalina dresser and ultimate changing table. You can go to the PBK store at Kenwood to check it out, but I think it's high quality and can definitely see it lasting us through the years. We have the espresso finish and the kendall crib can also be converted to a toddler bed, although we probably won't use it for that- I'm hoping to use this crib for all of our children. Hope this helps!

  • For Ava we had a Babi Italia Lifestyle crib and purchased it for $400 at BRU.  It's wonderful quality for the price and can be converted to a full size bed (although we didn't do that because it was cheaper for us to do a toddler bed rather than paying for a full size mattress and the $150 rails you need to convert it- we just didn't have it at the time since we had just bought new living room furniture, etc.).  We can always convert it in the future if we choose to and I can see it lasting through the years.  It's very nice quality.  Each crib does have a matching dresser, and you'd definitely be able to get it all (including the conversion rails) for about $1000.

  • We have the Bonavita Hudson crib and dresser.  We have been really happy with the quality.  We got it from Treehouse Kids.  We did negotiate price with them and feel we got a good price for the quality of the furniture.  Good luck!
