Stupid Question... What does kicking feel like?

I haven't felt any "butterflies", but the last 2-3 days especially after I eat I feel a few pops below my belly button where I would assume baby would be.

I keep dismissing as gas or growing, but is it possible that I am dismissing kicks?

Will I know the difference between baby and all the other possibilities?

Re: Stupid Question... What does kicking feel like?

  • That's pretty much what it felt like at first for me.  Every once in a while now I think I can feel the baby rolling a little, but yup, kicks feel like little pops.
  • Loading the player...
  • Kind of like little pokes

    i'm sure you're feeling baby :)

  • i remember telling my mom the first time it felt like someone tap dancing on my ute.

  • Mine feel like little taps or thumps..
  • To me it feels exactly like popping.  It actually feels the exact same as gas bubbles to me, and is sometimes really hard to tell the difference.

  • So do you guys get multiple pops, taps, thumps in a row?

Because most of the time it is one and done... then maybe a few minutes later another one.  But nothing like :::tap tap tap:::  more like ::tap::......................::tap::

  • I really wasn't sure what it would feel like, and when I felt it the first time I described it like marbles in my pelvis. Like 4 marbles being tossed lightly. So yea, popping. Now I feel a little bit of like a wave, if that makes sense. But mostly it's a pop or 4!

  • Do not laugh at me, lol.

One thing I did when I thought I felt feeling LO move was look up the organ placement of a pregnant woman.  (Okay, I guess you can laugh).  It really did help though as I got a better understanding of where my stomach was and where my guts were.  After that, I was able to differentiate between digestion, general muscular twinges and fetal movement.

from what i've been reading its pretty common the first couple of weeks of "feeling" anything, that you'll just feel something and then not feel anything else for a while...i'm kinda with you, i think i've been feeling something, dismiss it as gas rolling around in there but really it could be and i just don't know

This is exactly what I've been having! It's subtle and infrequent enough that after the fact I am able to convince myself that it must have been something else.

Today I even had a cup of coffee  in order to try to get the baby to do something. Embarrassed And I did feel a few pops afterwards... so maybe I am feeling baby?

I'm getting nervous enough about not feeling it that I'm having a heartbeat check tomorrow. I know it's silly and that 19w is still normal to not really feel anything... but it will make me feel better.
