Are bumpers supposed to serve a purpose or are they for aesthetics only? And they seem to be controversial, so are they a hazard for newborns? Is that why there are wonderbumpers? I was just wondering if they do anything or just something to spend money on.
Re: What's the point of bumpers???
I believe the main purpose is really supposed to help baby from getting an arm or leg stuck, or maybe even to prevent them from bumping their heads. You can get breathable bumpers, though. I doubt they help with head bumps, but would certainly prevent a leg stuck in between the slats.
My bed set came with a crib bumper, and I really don't have any intention on using it. Just not sure what else to do with it!
We have a regular bumper and didnt use it till DD was 7 months or so. She likes to get her foot stuck in the bars and is not happy.. Head bumps dont seem to bother her as much as being forced to stay a certain way.
Also some parents like them to keep things in the crib, pacis etc (but they still manage to find their way out)
I intend to look for breathable ones this time however have had no issue with a regular.
