Just have to get this out.

So tonight we met my parents and my niece for dinner (it's was DH & niece's birthday - long story but we missed the birthday party, so we met for dinner instead). She is four, and is a darling. In the midst of a conversation, sometime while talking about Cinderella, she says:

"Aunty, how come you had a baby growing in your belly, and now you don't?"

And my heart stopped.

I told her that God had decided that my little boy needed to be ib heaven with him, until it's time for us all to meet him. I told her his name (which was DH's first time learning that I've named him).

That was hard.

I'm so sorry you had to have that conversation, but it sounds like you handled it beautifully! I love the sweet way she asked even though I know it must have been a gut punch. My niece is 4 also and was told to never mention it to me or she'd be in trouble. It made me really sad to hear that, but I know my SIL was trying to be helpful. I just love the grace you showed in that tough situation. Big hugs and kudos to you!
