Re: When did you take family pictures after #2 arrived?
Hmmm... we're getting pictures as soon as DD and I are discharged from the hospital. I love the irreplaceable newborn phase. I obviously won't look my best, but I just adore our family shots from when DS was 8 days old.
If I had to wait for some reason I might wait until after 6 months when my youngest can sit, but not crawl.
We did newborn shots when DS was 8 days old. This was really for DS though, not for the whole family. DD was 16 months at the time and getting her to hold him or smile with him wasn't something we could bank on. We got lucky with a few shots but she definitely wasn't going to take direction and sit with him and smile. But like some PPs have said, the newborn shots are precious to me and I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice them.
We are doing family shots in a few weeks (my brother in law is a professional photographer and he is visiting for Easter and will take them then) and I am hoping that DD is more cooperative. We'll see!!!!

No more TTC for us. We are done, and at peace, as a family of 4.

I don't know if this is a possibility, but when LO#1 was born, we had pix taken at the hospital and they did a great job. My plan is to do a family shot when LO#2 is born while we are still in the hospital. Of course, we can't plan on LO#1 being all smiles, but hoping that will be a nice enough picture. I would love to get more professional pix done, but even if we did we wouldn't have any place to display too many photos.
Really, any time would be great to do pix. But the ones when your LO is very young are so precious because they grow so fast!
We did them when DS was 2 weeks old (just like we did with DD). We just did them again yesterday with DS getting ready to turn one and DD is two. Boy is that a challenge to get the two kids to smile.
We have our family take a lot of family poses for us. We have pictures of us down on the river front, some at the park, and Christmas in front of the tree. They turn out great and they are free to take. If you can only afford to get them taken professional once then just ask someone to take some picture of your family on your camera which is still great.
We had newborn pics taken but I wasn't in any of them. We had family pics taken around 3 months PP, and while I wasn't at my pre-PG weight, I was feeling better. We're having some taken in a couple of weeks and I'm super excited for them because I feel so much more confident with the way my body looks. Too bad PP hair loss is still not my friend.
I'd take them now AND later...is that an option? I'm glad we have pics of us as a family when DS was so small, even if I wasn't in the greatest shape. I have literally NO pictures of me with my DD when she was small because I was so self-conscious about how I looked. It makes me sad.
I'm not sure if we'll be able to afford it, but, if so, I'd also like to have some newborn pictures taken of DD2 after she's born since we didn't do them with DD1 and I regret it. We'll see.

This! We plan on doing them right away!
Oh, we'll do newborn pictures, 3 month, 6 month, etc...of DD2, no worries!
Just trying to decide the best time to update our family pictures, which I'd only like to spend money on once a year. I think doing them in early November is probably a good suggestion (DD1 will be about 25 months and DD2 will be 3 months) so that we can use them for our Christmas card.
