Has anyone used this seat, especially with a newborn?
Now that we're expecting #3, DH and I have to choose between buying a new car or buying 3 new car seats. Obviously, even though it's expensive, buying new car seats is the less expensive way to go.
Re: Sunshine Radian Car Seat?
I had a Sunshine Kids Radian, but we didn't like the way it fit in the back of our Honda Accord, so we got a different seat. I personally would not have been comfortable with a newborn in that seat.
Why do you need three new car seats? Do you have the infant car seat that your other LO's used?
If you're trying to fit three car seats all in one row, then yes, the Radian is good for that because it's slim. However, you should test them in your car if you want to use them rear facing because they have a very tall shell and are therefore difficult to get behind the front seats.
We still have the infant seat from our other two, but we need to fit 3 car seats in the back on my Chevy Equinox. Currently, we have DD forward facing and DS rear facing in Britax Marathons and there is no way we can fit any kind of 3rd seat in the back with them.
Ideally, we'd just buy a bigger car, but DH just bought a new car (VW Golf) before we found out I am pregnant and my car isn't paid off yet. Right now I'm just trying to check out all of my options.
We have a Chevy Trailblazer and here's what we currently have - Graco Snugride (so bigger than your infant seat) RFing on the passenger outboard, Radian 65 FFing in the middle position for our oldest, Britax Roundabout RFing in the driver's side outboard.
You may not need three new seats right away since the Radians puzzle with the Britax seats really well. I would find a store that carries Radians and take your other seats with you and test it out to see if a configuration like that would work. You may need a second Radian for once your middle kiddo turns FFing, but that wouldn't be an immediate need.
Also, check out the car seat message boards for windsorpress, the publisher for Baby Bargains. Those mamas KNOW their stuff and there are LOTS of threads about installing three seats across as well as threads about the Radian seats specifically.

And as an unrelated FYI, their strollers board is the BOMB for doing double stroller research.
Thanks! That site is a great resource and it seems like I might be able to fit 3 across with the seats I already have if I can puzzle them the right way.
