So, my husband decided to invite everyone over to have a small halloween party tonight but didn't tell me until last night. ?No big deal, except the house is a complete mess and neither of us get home from work usually before 4:30. ?

?When i came home from work today, i walked into an immaculately clean kitchen. ?Couldn't figure out who came over and cleaned my kitchen while we were at work. ?No note, no clues, no nothing

So, i find out that my sister in law came over to get something and decided to clean the kitchen while she was here because she knew we were having people over. ? I guess I think that was super nice, but a little bit strange? Who does that? lol?

Awww, I think that's sweet! Tell her she can clean my kitchen anyday! I was late to work today for the exact same reason. DH invited people over but told me last night at 9:30pm when i got home from school. So this AM I had to clean everything up! Such a mess. I have a little more to clean when I get home too! ugh.

Hey there,

I don't know how I would feel. Apart of me would feel happy I didn't have to do it. The other part of me would feel offended/embarrassed. I am sure she was doing it to be nice & guess you have to leave it as that.

no I am, but I guess I was thinking that it was just really strange and I don't know that I would feel comfortable doing that in someone else's house, and maybe I'm just a mean person! lol, it was super sweet!

I would be thrilled, My MIL comes over when we are gone, lets the dog out, and does not put him back in the cage. Dog not in cage=very not clean kitchen!

I think it's nice or weird depending on your realtionship with her. Like if y'all were super close and she knew you needed help = nice. See her only on holidays/ talk to her rarely = weird. But overall, I think it's nice...she can come clean my kitchen if she wants to

I totally agree with this! I would be thrilled if my sister or my mom cleaned up for me because we all share the same housekeeping habits ( Embarrassed ) but my SIL and I don't know each other that well. I would be glad that she lent a hand, but a little weirded out at the same time.

I don't understand why you are upset. I would be happy. I don't like how MIL cleans, but she knows how I like things and would be willing to help. And would you rather your company come in while you are in the middle of cleaning instead of standing there in your nice clean house with your costume on and ready to party?

It all depends on the relationship that you have with her, but I'd feel that it was a bit of an invasion of my privacy and I'd be embarassed of my dirty kitchen. However, if your DH put her up to it I wouldn't blame her one bit but I'd much prefer DH to hire a professional cleaner, but hey, at least your kitchen is clean.

I merely meant that maybe I'm a b!tch because I would probably not ever do that for her unless she really needed it or I was a part of whatever made the house a mess. ?Also, I got home from work at about 3:30 and I would've had plenty of time to get it done if need be. ?

I think I was weirded out because I walked into my house and I didn't know who cleaned it. ?I almost felt violated, you know, like "Who's been in my house without me knowing? and why did they clean?" ?I totally appreciate it and think she is very sweet for doing it and i wasn't trying to complain. ?Sorry if I wasn't clear!

Not sure if you check your past messages, but I thought I would put it out there that that is my person feelings on it. You don't have to snap my neck off. You posted asking a question. If you can't handle what I have to say, ignore me.

My point still stands. I don't really care for how my MIL cleans, but I wouldn't be upset if I had no time to clean. I also think that you would rather have your company over while the house is clean compared to what it would have been had it not been cleaned. I think you should talk to H about what he asked her to do since it makes you feel so strongly. But on short notice like that, I wouldn't be complaining.

May I have my neck back now?!?
