Playtex Drop Ins Question.....

OK I feel so stupid with these bottles. Right now my DS is drinking 2 oz's, and I've been using the bottles from the NICU. So I'm spending so much time cleaning them, figured I'd finally use my playtex drop ins. Now here's my question...and I dont know if anyone will even understand it....but here I go..

How the hell do you get the air out if you are only filling the liners up to 2 ozs, instead of using the entire liner. I know the instructions say to press on the liner until some of the milk comes out, but the liner is still filled with air and I  just thought that its supposed to have no air in it at all. LIke you press it and it all suctions out....anyone know what I'm talking about?

Re: Playtex Drop Ins Question.....

  • 2 things re: the drop ins

    1. you don't need to get the air out. it will just collapse as he drinks it.

    2. are you ff? if so, make sure you measure the water in a measuring cup and not by the bottles or the liners. it is not accurate.

  • Good to know. Thanks....I felt so dumb!
  • I know what you're saying.  I use the Drop-Ins and eventhough Mati takes 4 oz. now, we started at 2 oz.  It is a little bit of effort, but once the milk/formula is in the bottle I (with clean hands) slightly squeeze the nipple to open up the air flow and then press the liner against the bottle to squeeze out the air.  DH likes to push his finger straight up the center of the liner to squeeze the air out but either method works.  You are squeezing for a bit of time to get all the air out but it works.
  • I know what you mean. We use a remote or what works best for us is a Mag light flash light. it skinny enough to push all the air out of it! Also the end of a hairbrush works too!
  • For what it's worth, I've also heard that with those bottles you don't need to get the air out.  I don't at this time and don't have any problems!
