CBEFM battery life question

I borrowed a friend's CBEFM to use, and it seems a little wonky. Battery life is really short, and sometimes it doesn't want to turn on (I can't tell if this is just due to chronic low battery power). I was able to reset it using instructions I found on the internet but haven't been able to fix the battery life issue.

Does anyone know if there is a secondary internal long-life battery?

    Have you changed the battery to brand new ones?

    ETA - I'm just confused.... is it with even brand new batteries that it keeps losing power?

    I reset mine after our loss (the batteries had died in it) and I replaced the batteries and haven't had any issues.  I wonder if it is defective.

    It might be defective? So far I have hadn't any battery issues with mine.

    Thanks guys. I had already tried changing the batteries to new ones (sorry that wasn't clear) and kept having the battery issue. Sounds like it's time to give up on it.
