Anyone else have placenta previa?

I am 15 weeks and was told yesterday that I have complete placenta previa.  I have been spotting and having a light pain/heavy feeling as well for a few days.  The doc said most of the time, the placenta moves up and it gets better but I was reading that it is rare if its complete p.previa that it moves.  Does anyone else have complete placenta previa or have had it?

Re: Anyone else have placenta previa?

  • I did with my last pregnancy and they didn't diagnose it until my 19 week ultrasound. I was put on pelvic rest and had a lot of pressure down there. It ended up moving by week 32 and I did not require a c-section. I did not have any spotting. Good luck!

  • I have it but I don't think it's complete.  I had some brown spotting at 11.5 weeks so I went in for an u/s.  I've been on pelvic rest ever since =(

I had another u/s last Friday and my OB said it's beginning to correct itself but there's still a little bit covering the cervix.  They'll check it again at my 20 week appt.

  • I responded to your post on 2nd tri and wanted to give you some more details.

I don't remember when I was told I had it, but it was somewhere around 15-16weeks.  Mine was never complete, but partial.  It never moved.  Because I had spotting sporadically during my PG I was put on modified bed rest at about 28-29 weeks.

I was closely monitored by my doc and had quite a few U/S to check it out.  I had to have a c-section at 35w (not just because of Previa - DS wanted to come early)

There really isn't anything you can do if you have it, except keep it monitored by your OB and notify them  if you have bleeding.  The majority of the women who have it, it corrects itself as you get bigger.  I know it is easier said than done, but try not to worry about it, that will just stress you out.  As long as your doctor is aware of what is going on, you will be fine.

  • Okay, Thanks!  And your baby is adorable!! :)
