Another temp question...I have my alarm set to 6:30, but I often wake at 4am needing to pee. I know I could set my alarm to 4am, but I think DH will get annoyed quickly. He can never fall back asleep after he wakes up. A 6:30 alarm works well because he needs to be up about then anyways.
Any ideas on how to temp in this case? Also, if I wake up before my alarm at any point, and don't get back to sleep, should I still wait until 6:30 to temp? Sometimes I lay awake waiting for 6:30 (or even 6) to temp, and I don't know if that's the right thing to do or not.

If you're within 3 hours of your normal temp time, temp then. If not, and you can go back to sleep, then do that. You can technically temp 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after your normal temp time and it won't affect your chart.
Can you set your phone to vibrate so you don't wake him?
Thank you KdgTeacher. I've been waiting for one of these to ask my question. Eek, here goes:
I got a call back today regarding my pap & I've been told I have a bacterial infection (gardnerella). I've had absolutely NO symptoms of this infection. How does this affect my fertility (while the infection is present)? My doctor wasn't available for questions. I've Googled around but find many & varied answers from one far end of the spectrum to the other. I am just wondering what you or anyone else's take on this might be. (or if anyone has experienced this while ttc).

Were you prescribed an oral medication? I would guess that once completing this medication you would be considered to be in "full working order again."
And since conception can take several days after sex to happen, I'd say you still have a chance. I don't know however if it can/will interfere with your dh's swimmers or with you O'ing. I'd call back to your dr tomorrow though. Good luck!
I'm going in for my annual at the end of the month and I've started my 10th cycle. Should I remind him that we are TTC and ask for a referral to a specialist so that I know who to call if needed, or not even worry about it yet?
ETA: I know, I won't be doing any real testing until July! I forgot to mention that.
Normally, referrals to RE are given after 12 months of TTC (if you are under 35) and after 6 months if 35 and over. That is if you have normal cycles and O. Also, the issue comes with insurance coverage...usually if you have not been TTC "long enough" they will deny coverage.
However, totally talk to your provider about it at you annual appointment...you are going to your OBGYN, right?
I am new-er to this city and don't have a OBGYN office. Went I went for my annual I just went to planned parenthood (and wasn't too thrilled). When/if I get my BFP, do I call a new office or go to pph for testing? Should I start looking around now? Not sure how all that works. Thanks girls

Gardnerella is a normal bacteria found in the vagina, that commonly "over grows" causing an infection. Each provider is different, but some would even choose not to treat if you are having not symptoms. Usually you are given a choice of oral or vagina meds to take. The vagina medication may mess things up a bit, just due to the fact that it is placed either in bed or right before you go to bed for about 7 days. However, having the bacteria (like we all do) should not interfere with TTC.
But talk to your provider about what is best for you.

I would get an obgyn now. You want someone who knows you and you're comfortable with delivering your baby and giving you your prenatal care.

Yes, I was prescribed metronidazole. I haven't started
taking it yet (I'm about to go pick it up) & I am on CD15. Thank
you for your response!! It is much appreciated. I will def call the Dr
tomorrow. I hope it hasn't take me out of the running this month.
& thank you blubo for the information as well! I appreciate it.
Can I still potentially conceive if I O during my period? I've got a super long cycle going on but got +OPK yesterday and this morning.
I would think you could potentially conceive during your period/spotting that you described. I know that when practicing FAM you are supposed to abstain while bleeding/spotting if your period is longer than 5 days. I am also thinking the degree of bleeding and how long it continued might affect the likelihood.
TTC#1 starting Feb 2011, BFP #1:5/31/11, CP: 6/6/11; BFP #2: 7/9/11, loss confirmed 8/3 with D&C on 8/12 finding complete molar pregnancy. Forced break until Feb 2012. My blog
Kind of a nerdy question, but what are the best books to read about TTC? Any suggestions?
While it has gotten mixed reviews here, I liked The Conception Chronicles by Patty Debano and of course Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler
I absolutely am loving the conception chronicles!!

Thanks for replying. I think I'll stop trying to figure out what is going on and do a little research on the Provera to put an end to the madness...if normally my chance of getting pregnant is 20%, and this makes it less than that, there is no reason for me to keep bleeding!

Does provera totally mess up your cycle? I took it in january and got my period, then didn't get it for like 2 1/2 months after my doc put me on provera again. Fam doc said to do OPK and hopefully this fri I will get my smiley face so we can do the BD. Buttttt if not she's suggesting I go on BC a few months to straighten things out. I'm normally on time with things. Had a LEEP procedure that came out normal and got the OK to TTC in Jan so we have been but with no luck due to my cycle being messed up. The charts confuse the crap out of me. Have an ultra sound and another doc appt on monday because of my ovarian cyst pain...

It shouldn't. It should just give you a fresh start to a new cycle. I would bet the provera has nothing to do with the newly wonky cycles and that everything else going in is the culprit. Good luck!
I don't know if y'all will be able to answer this, but it's worth a shot...
I was diagnosed with PCOS today. My doctor wants to start me on Metformin as well as Clomid because I'm not ovulating. I'm wondering if it's really necessary to take both, or just one or the other, or neither. As I've said before, I'm not a huge fan of medication. Also, I'm wondering if I should look into seeing an RE, or if my ob/gyn will be fine. Anyone with any experience/opinions on this would be helpful!

The metformin will help with insulin resistance that's common with PCOS. The clomid will help with ovulating. I would personally seek a RE since most ob's don't monitor you like you should while on clomid. Good luck!
Is it possible for a period to be too short? Mine this month last about 24 hours, and was heavier than normal for me. My periods are on the shorter side at 3-4 days, but I don't remember one this short.
Am I just lucky or should I be concerned?
As long as your lining shed completely, it doesn't matter how short it is. However I'd call my dr just to be sure since 24 hours is pretty short.

Thanks Slick! Do you know how a chemical pregnancy would affect it? I had a very faint BFP on Thursday but my temp dipped on Saturday (which is when my period started) and a BFN on a HTP, so I assume I either got a false BFP, I did use a blue dye test; or I had a CP.
I did call my doctor yesterday, the nurse said to test again since it was so short. But, it was blank again. Do all tests have an evap line?
Hmmm, if you have a pink dye or digital I'd confirm with that first. Frer's and digi's won't give you false results if you make sure to follow the time limits.
I really have no clue about the CP. I really hope that's not the case I had a possible CP last fall and the wondering is awful. Good luck!
I just read TCOYF and I have a question about CM. The book makes it seem like not having EWCM is a serious fertility problem (similar to a LPD). I have just been checking mine for the last 2 cycles and most of the time its creamy, a couple days each cycle I thought it was maybe a bit more watery, but I haven't seen any EWCM yet. It did say that this could be a side effect of coming off BCPs, but this is my 5th cycle off & my cycles have been completely normal otherwise. I tried green tea this cycle (1-2 cups pre-O), but didn't notice any difference. I guess what I got from the book was that it I would have less fertile days so timing would be more important, but how important do you guys think EWCM is??
Also, my understanding of pre-seed is that it's just another lubricant (but sperm friendly), but then I think the book said it could be kind of a replacement for EWCM as far as similar pH and providing nourishment for the sperm, is this right?
After ovulation it's not uncommon to not have much cm. (I see you're 5DPO according to your chart) I would only be concerned if you don't have fertile cm before O.

Sorry, I do mean a lack of fertile CM pre-O. This cycle I have 2 days marked watery, but even that I'm kind of hesitant about (and same with last cycle) but no EWCM ever.
Sorry! Reading comprehension fail!
In that case, maybe the next two or so cycles try checking internally (maybe you are getting some and it's just not enough to notice outwardly?) and then after those few cycles maybe make a call to your ob. And it couldn't hurt to try some Pre-Seed to help swimmers along. You can get it on Amazon and at CVS.
Ok thanks Mrs Slick! That's what I was thinking.. might as well give it a try. I have been checking internally too.
I seriously could have written that EXACT post.. We're in the same boat. I had (what I thought to be) watery cm.. And I get creamy sometimes, but no ewcm. I have tried to check internally too, but who knows of I'm doing it right. All I ever find is what seems to be regular 'wetness.' I tried green tea this cycle too.. Nada. Trying not to think the worst, but it's hard when it seems like a lot of women here do get ewcm! Ugh!
Just wanted you to know that theres someone else going through the same thing!!

What do you mean by "everything else?" I had my leep a year ago and my cycles were pretty much normal from then until jan after I took provera the first time. Since I wasn't getting it, she put me on a seven day pack and got it a week and a half later. I've been off BC and just using condoms for over a year now. BC made me crazy.
