I was talking to a few people since more than one people quoted me thank you very much. And I literally laughed when I read "forget who you were logged in as" because I am assuming you think I'm the other girl posting on here which is NOT me. All I've said was not to click on the posting.....Yes I'm new and didn't realize most of you go by the picture so please EXCUSE me for not knowing and attacking me as such.

I assume youre talking to me since you didnt quote anyone. I am a very positive person and really enjoy helping newbies out. It's not lack of positivity that prompted this post. Again, I find it cruel to tell a bunch of women who are struggling to get pregnant that you dont know that youre KU. Why? There is no point in it. I realize some of these women simply dont think before they post, hence this post.

Seriously, would you not give someone the side eye if they randomly came up to you while you were standing outside your IF clinic (and were obviously having issues getting KU) and told you they were pregnant WAHOOO!! ? I just dont see how it makes it better to do that to a bunch of internet strangers.

Im not saying there is a "post minimum" or anything of the sort. If you start TTC, participate on this board, ask questions, support others, etc and get your BFP but still have less than 100 posts but have obviously been participating, then great! Low post count=/= drive by. Not participating on this board or participating very rarely = a drive by.

That's all Im saying.

Exactly. When I first started lurking on this board, I didn't get why it was so annoying. After about a week of lurking and not posting, I totally got it. It's annoying and rude and I guess I'm just not sure why someone would choose to post their BFP post here as one of their first posts. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. This is a board for people trying to get pregnant. Not already pregnant.

I don't consider myself a regular on this board, because even though I have been posting here for months, and reading people's posts and responding, I don't feel like people here know me all that well. I'm not able to spend much time on the bump. So when I do get my BFP, I don't plan on making a big announcement here because I just don't feel like it would be the right thing to do. So yeah, if you don't get why it's annoying, maybe you just need to lurk more...

Now I'm nervous that I won't have enough posts on here before I get pregnant to make my announcement worth anything :P haha jk Serious newbie here - but I have a couple months before officially trying, so hopefully you'll get used to me (and who know how long it will actually take once we start).

Just as a side question - don't a lot of people only join the TB once they are pregnant which would make their announcement their first post?

Funny thing was I actually wasn't commenting towards you except for the very first comment lol I didn't realize you girls go by the siggy thing that's why I posted my original comment in the first place.

Then someone said "to stick around for a while then come back and tell us that" I didn't think that was too nice. Oh and then the other person who thought I was the other chick and forgot what name I was on lol too funny.

But ya wasn't really targeting you so no hard feelings.

and OP, I agree completely. I think an easy test for Whether or not you should post your BFP is exactly what was described - if you have to preface your post by saying "I only lurked" or something, then don't post the BFP. (this is on response to someone saying they were nervous about posting their BFP when it happened.)

Yes, but you would make that announcement on 1st Tri since you aren't TRYING to get pregnant, you already are.

Yes, but if you came here as a pregnant person wouldnt your first thought be posting your BFP on 1st Tri. Hence this post, it seems cruel to post a random BFP announcement on on of the few boards where the women are not in fact KU...

Thanks though:) Hope to get to know you better and congrats on making the decision to TTC. I would consider adding a siggy pic or badge so we can 'recognize' you better. I often remember posters better by their siggy than their s/n.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you get KU on your first cycle but you've been here, supporting for 2-3 months (not just lurking) that's one thing. Like the original poster mentioned, it's not a post-count thing, it's a support thing. If you don't feel like you've supported when that day comes, save your energy for replying to congrats on 1st tri! Also, I didn't join TB, I signed up for the knot when I was getting married, I'm sure that's the case with many others as well.

I have lurked here since August and posted since October, the first couple months of posting I thought the regulars were being harsh on the drive by BFP posts, but now I understand their snark. I see a BFP post and open it up, only to realize I have no idea who the OP even is! I used to say congrats to all of them, now I usually just ignore the post and move along.

I'm new here AND I agree.. not bitter or grumpy.. knowing what some random person did "differently" probably won't help me out unless I knew what they had done before... and I see a BFP post as a way for someone who has been here to share that they are KU and moving onto 1st tri ... someone who hasn't posted here really doesn't need to inform others they are moving to 1st tri.

Exactly what I was thinking. I agree with OP. It's great to be happy for someone who gets pregnant but if I don't know you then I don't need it shoved in my face, especially 20 times a day and by people who don't contribute to the board. First Tri is an excellent place to share in their bfp excitement so why do it here where it actually hurts women ttc.

I am "new" to the board. I started posted right at the start of our first TTC cycle because I can't just lurk. I think my siggy is unique enough. Hopefully you will all recognize me. I have tried to post a lot.

I do agree though, if you haven't posted once on this board, it is a little weird to just post a BFP. I am nothing but happy for anyone that gets one but it just makes sense to me to post if you are going to be on a board.

How many posts do you consider enough in order to post your BFP? I am just wondering because if I got pregnant relatively soon without having the chance to post for awhile, should I just move straight on without saying bye? My post count clearly isn't high. What would be the appropriate thing to do? Not saying I will get pregnant soon by any means, but just in case... wwyd?

It seriously gets old. (AND IM A NEWBIE!!!) I've only been excited & said Congrats to a few BFP posters who I was familiar with or who have answered my questions. I honestly think Drive-by BFPs are intended to rub it in. I must be bitter already! Hahaha There is really no other explanation... IMO.

If you got offended by that, you may have a rough stay around here. It was not rude. I was stating a fact. Stay around here for a while and then come tell me these posts don't get annoying.

There is absolutely no number at all. Youre participating in the board so it probably wont be an issue, however if you think it MIGHT be an issue but you still want to let those people whove helped you know that you are KU just be sensitive about it. The BFP posts that are titled something along the lines of "For those who know me" or "for my girls" tend to not get flamed because it doesnt come across as you trying to AW your BFP to the whole board as much as you updating the people that you got to know.

Making sure the post title is appropriate if you havent been here very long and being sensitive to the women on the board as a whole makes it MUCH more acceptable IMO.

Again there are no "rules", just as long as you keep others feelings an how you would proceed IRL makes a huge difference.

Example: Bad Drive by:

Post Title; BEEE EFFFFFFF PEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I know yall dont know me and I know I only posted here about missed AF like one time but I just HHHHHHHAAAAAAAAADDDDDDddd to tell someone that I an KTFU!!!!! YAYYYY.

I had SUPER HOT SEX this time and I stood on my head. YOU HAVE to do this in order to get KU!

Aww yay! Im glad to hear that! Youre ALMOST in to second tri now! I get more and more excited for you all the time! Do you have a belly yet? I cant wait to see your cute growing belly!

Im doing pretty good, some drama on the TTC front but we are moving on to testing so it feels good to know that we will hopefully have some answers soon. Thanks girl! We took them this weekend in my parents yard. It was so NICE out. We couldnt resist the photo op:)
