Daycare/Pediatricians - Spring

I know these questions are asked a million times, so I apologize in advance!

I'm almost 20 weeks (anatomy scan next Monday, yay!!), and I've decided I need to sit down and figure out what to do about daycare and a pediatrician.

Any recommendations for daycares (for infants) and pedis in Spring (specifically the 2920/Kuykendahl/Louetta area)?

I'm considering Kids R Kids at 2920/Kuykendahl, but I love to have some other options to check out.  Anyone know if any centers in the area are willing to cloth diaper?  (Probably a long shot, but just curious...)

I'm completely lost on a pediatrician.  My SIL uses someone in Tomball, but that seems a little far to drive.  Also, did anyone actually interview their pedis before hand?  We're not planning on doing any delayed/selective vax or anything (though I considered it if the baby wasn't going to be a daycare kid...)  Would there be any other reason to need to interview?  I'm a first-time mom, so obviously clueless.  I'm just thinking that I don't interview my OWN doctors before I schedule an appointment, so...

Thanks for reading.  Sorry for the novel.  Smile

Re: Daycare/Pediatricians - Spring

  • Dr. Michael Pope at TCPA on Cypresswood (near Meyer Park).  I love him and so do my kids.

  • I most definately interviewed the pediatricians. I want to know what kind of "attitude" they have and see how much care and time they would be willing to show my child. I heard that the Kids R Kids is pretty good.

We also love Dr. Pope.  As does my SIL, BIL and several good friends.

  • I never interviewed any pediatricians, so I guess I'm not the best person to answer. LOL  Our first pedi (who just happened to be who was on-call when I had my oldest daughter) I really really liked... We stayed with her until two years ago when her practice had just grown too much and the wait became longer than the visit.  I still loved her though.  Our current pedi, I saw based on recommendations of Nesties and I LOVE her... However we've moved now to the Spring area and I will likely be switching again.

I've heard really good things about the Kids R Kids on Kuykendahl/2920.   I live further south off Louetta, so I'm not sure if you want to come down this far... I've heard good things about Beginnings and Beyond on Louetta.  I've heard really BAD things about Precious Angels (or something along those lines), also on Louetta.

  • If I remember correctly, Dr. Singh's practice (Pediatric and Adolescent Center of Northwest Houston) has an office around 2920 and Kuykendahl.

We go to that practice but go to the Tomball office (just down the street from Davidson's office) or the Champions office off of Spring Cypress and Champions.

I interviewed Dr Singh when I was pregnant with ds.   I wanted to know how they treated after hours situations and sick appointments and etc.

The Tomball number is (281) 357-5678.   You can call and double check if they still have that location near 2920.

  • Thanks for the recommendations, ladies!

darva - I'll be sure to check out Beginnings and Beyond.  I have a vague idea of where it is.  I'm sure I've past by there a million times.  lol

Britany - My SIL recommended Dr. Fowler and Dr. Anu at Pediatric and Adolescent Center of Northwest Houston, so I'm definitely going to check them out.  According to their website, it doesn't look like they have an office on 2920, but that's ok.  Neither the Champions or Tomball office is terribly far away.  I'd much prefer the personal recommendations and have to compromise a little on location, than pick someone just because they're close to my house, and not know what I'm getting myself into...

I have never found their website until just now!  lol   They must have closed the other location.

Dr. Fowler and Dr. Anu are at the Champions location and Dr. Singh and Dr. Suffridge are in Tomball.

Personally, I will NOT take my son to Dr. Suffridge, I'll drive to Champions (I'm in the middle between the 2 offices) to see Dr. Fowler or Dr. Anu if Dr. Singh doesn't have any open appointments, which is rare.   That's just based on our personal views clashing BIG TIME, as long as you are vaxing on time you won't have a problem with her.

However my order of preference is Singh, Fowler, then Anu.  Really Fowler and Anu are on the same level to me.

Thanks again for your advice!  I think I'm going to interview Dr. Fowler and Dr. Singh and see who I get a better feel for.
