I apologize because I know this has been asked a million times, but I can't seem to find an old thread on it now that I need it.
I had a CS after 45 hours of labor and 2.5 hours of pushing, last Wednesday. DS had trouble latching the first two days, but I started pumping late Thursday night. He has been latching well since Saturday and feeding often. I have also continued to pump at least once a day, just in case we need to supplement again. I'm now on day 6 and my milk is still MIA. Also, DS is still having dark green BM; I'm assuming that is because he is still only getting colostrum. I wouldn't be so concerned about my milk if it weren't for the trouble we had in the beginning and the large weight loss he's had as a result.
So...just curious when other's milk has come in and at what point I really need to worry.
Thanks.
Re: When did your milk come in?
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
I had DS midnight on Thursday (so Wed night, technically). My milk came in on Monday.
Some women- it takes 7 days.
I had my DD on a Wednesday and my milk came in Friday/Saturday. They only reason I could tell is from DD's diaper output. I never got engorged or anything. You should definitely contact an LC if you are worried!
Also, I don't think the tar poop is the result of colostrom, but I could be wrong.

This. The tar poop is normal and just needs to work out of baby's system. I don't know how long it should take though.

I had my DS via planned c-section on a Friday morning, my milk came in on Tuesday. I never supplemented, but he was literally attached to my breast non stop. I think it helped a lot.
My first DS was an unplanned c-section after laboring for over 24 hours, my milk never really "came in". I wasn't really educated on how often I needed to put him to the breast though. In hind sight I know if I would have had the help of an LC I would've been successful.
If you are worried contact a lactation consultant. Try to rest, drink lots of water, and spend lots of time doing skin-to-skin contact with your DS.
Congrats on your sweet baby boy!
