Babies on the Brain

Em has an extra tooth.

Em has all of her teeth except for one of her 2 year molars but it's on it's way in.  She has quite a large gap between her second top tooth on the left side and the third top tooth.  But she has all of the correct teeth.  I figured her teeth would eventually space out better when they were her permanent teeth or we would get braces.

Well she has another one coming in where the gap is!  I've counted and re-counted her teeth.  She's got all of the ones she's suppose to have.  Apparently she's got another random tooth now.  I plan on asking the dentist when I go in on Thursday if I should be worried.  Normally it's not an issue unless it's a permanent tooth right?

  • I wouldn't worry about it. Even if she has an extra permanent one, they'll just pull it and realign them with braces.

  • I wouldn't worry too much either. But how in the world do you get her to let you count her teeth?

  • Have you seen Em's mouth?!  Seriously she's got a mouth that Steven Tyler would be jealous of.  It's large and in charge.  And the only reason I have counted is becuase many people have commented that she has a lot of teeth.  She has the regular amount (well she did until I noticed the new one) but they are big and with her big mouth it makes it look like there are more.

This. DD's right canine came in over the top and in front of the second right incisor. Dentists kept telling us it would have to be pulled and another tooth reshaped, but we ignored him. The orthodontist moved the canine back to the correct spot and is currently moving the incisor forward. Don't let a dentist pull any adult teeth without a consult from an Ortho.
