I wore it almost 24-7 for a month. I don't think that is the norm though. I wore it because it helped me feel held together and supported, not because I thought it would magically shrink me back to normal. I used a binder from the hospital. I requested one (had vag delivery) because I was sick during delivery and couldn't cough. It was like I had no muscles in there so I just asked OB to signoff on one for me.
I had a c-section and they gave me binder. I wore it everyday, all day for the first month. I wore it because it made me feel more comfortable. Without it I felt like my stomach was going to fall off.
I had a c-section 3 weeks ago and I'm still wearing my binder nearly 24/7. I still feel that it's necessary for the support and to aid with the swelling as things move back into place. I wasn't given a timeline for how long to wear it, but I'll definitely keep it on until my 6 week PP check up at the very least.
