How old are you and DH? I am 24 (will be 25 on April 22nd) and DH is 29.

If you're going back to work, what do you plan on doing for daycare? DH works nights, so he thinks that we will be able to do it with just the 2 of us. We'll see how it goes!

Do you plan on being a SAHM or are you going back to work after the baby is born? If you're going back to work, what do you plan on doing for daycare? I'm going back to work. My husband has severe back problems and had surgery a little over a month ago and is still not fixed, so depending on his condition, if he's not working, he'll stay home with the baby. If he IS working, there is daycare on the military post I work on, so I can drop the baby off on my way to work in the mornings.
ETA: My parents also live in town, so I'm sure my mother will LOVE to take the baby occasionally, but I don't want to pin her down with full time baby duty!

I have my own business working from home so I plan to take time off for the first three months. Then, work part time and get a babysitter when the baby gets older to give me some time to concentrate on work.
I also work on a military post and will probably do the same if DH being home during the day with no sleep proves to be too much!

It depends what kind of job DH can get. If he can get a great job that has a high enough salary I will stay home. Otherwise I will go back to work and we'll have to sort out a daycare situation somehow. I'd really love to be a SAHM though.It's a boy! -- EDD 11.17.11

I'll be back at work. Right now, DD is in daycare 3 half days a week so DH can work, otherwise he's a SAHD. He writes and produces TV commercials so has great flexibility and we can otherwise live on my salary. When this baby comes, DD will be in preschool every morning so that should work for DH to keep his career going and still be a SAHD. BUT, after I go back to work, our new baby will go to the daycare across the street from my office for a while. That way I can run over a few times a day to see him/her, nurse, hug, etc. Plus although DH is AWESOME with our toddler, he was useless when she was an infant and is really daunted by taking care of both kids by himself, so we're compromising.

I work from home, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do for daycare. I'm going to test out how it is for a little bit when I'm done with maternity leave, and then decide if I want to hire a nanny or do daycare for half a day. My mom doesn't work on Fridays, so that at least is covered.

If you're going back to work, what do you plan on doing for daycare? We'll either do in home daycare or my IL's have offered to watch the baby for us during the day. We'll see what e decide.

I would love to be a SAHM, and though financially we could probably make it happen, at only 25 I don't think it would be best for DH and I to both work to provide the best possible life for the LO. We've decided we are going to get as ahead as possible financially so that maybe once we have our 2nd I will be a SAHM.

Also, it looks like we got married within days of each other! Everyone I've seen on here so far has been married much longer! I'm glad to see someone else got RIGHT to the baby making!

I would if we could afford it but at this point, its not an option. Hopefully we can find a home daycare bc the regular daycares around these parts are outrageous for newborns

I'm an attorney in legal aid and plan on returning back to work Jan 3. DH and I have begun looking at daycares since some have 6-9mo waiting lists for infant care. Luckily there is a church/private school in the med center where I am in charge of legal clinics once a month at. They have a very good reputation and waitlist so I'm hopin I can get our LO in their program since I work closely with their organizations leaders. The daycare would be ideal for so many reasons, its across the street from the zoo, down the street from DH's work and not far from our house, and I know people on the church side that I work with.

Daughter is in preschool right now, hoping to find a good in home maybe for both, so daughter can be there before and after school with the little one. I wish I could be a SAHM. I will be going back to work about 8 weeks after having the LO. It's so not going to be enough time. I only had 6 weeks with DD.

If you're going back to work, what do you plan on doing for daycare? I have a friend who runs a daycare center out of her house and I plan on taking the little one there. I totally trust her and will be the most at ease with her.

If you're going back to work, what do you plan on doing for daycare? For awhile the baby will come to work with me a few days a week and stay with my mom the others. Then, once the baby is too big to come to work with me, he/she will stay with my mom or a sitter.

If we were staying in the states, I would go back to work part time, but since we are moving to Germany I will most likely be home for the first year. I don't want to NOT work while we are there (3 years) because I know how difficult it will be to get a job when we return to the US.

My husband and I are both 26.
We haven't decided if i'm going to stay at home after we have the baby. I work two part time jobs. One of them will allow me to take the baby with me to work, and one won't. I really don't like the one that doesn't, but it gives me slightly more hours. My ideal situation would be having MIL watch the baby in the mornings while i work the job that won't let me take the baby, and then I take the baby with me to my other job 2 days a week in the afternoons. If it comes down to it I will quit the morning job and keep the afternoon job.

I really enjoy my job so I plan to come back after however many weeks I can get off for maternity (that, and we have insurance through my job and my paycheck pays for our mortgage, so I kinda have to!). My MIL is retiring this year and lives literally 5 minutes away and has already volunteered to watch the baby.

I'm going back to work and I am looking at daycare centers right now. But when I come back I should be in a new department, so I my hours will be way more flexible then they are now and I may be able to work from home a day or two a week.

Being a SAHM isn't really an option for me, but my SIL does daycare out of her home. She watches my neices along with my nephews and another little girl, so baby will be able to get to know it's cousins which is really exciting.
