HELP! Need some advice before DH kills me..

Ok not really.

I'm mostly a lurker here, but I occasionally post with questions because you ladies seem to have all my answers! I'm really embarrassed to post this, but have to because I don't know what else to do.  A little graphic.. so if you blush easily.. may not want to read further.

I'll be 5 months PP next week and DH and I have not yet had sex.  We've tried.. and failed.  DH has been extremely patient with me thus far, but I know his patience is running thin (understandably).  All of the times we've tried, it has hurt. BAD. Like I want to throw up BAD.  I had an epis and the first couple times we tried previously, I believe it was the scar tissue from my epis that hurt.. last night, it was like a deep pain inside the vag.  So everytime we've tried, I've started crying and pushed DH off of my b/c it hurt so bad.  We've tried everything.. lots of lube, foreplay, getting me drunk, etc., but nothing makes it better.  He tried using his finger last night, which about shot me through the roof in terms of pain.  So my question is.. is this normal? I have no other reason to believe that something is "wrong" other than excruciating pain when trying to have sex.  I consider myself to have an average pain tolerance.. not too high and not too low.  So, I'm considering calling to dr to get checked out.. unless I'm being completely irrational. Ugh. Thoughts?

  • Call your doctor and have him/her check you out. What did they say at your 6 week post partum visit?

  • Yeah...you need to call your doctor.
  • I had a similar issue with DD#1, it turns out there was some scar tissue from some tearing inside.  My doc gave me some estrogen cream to put on it and that helped heal it.

  • Definitely call your dr.  That does not seem normal.

  • Poor you.  Poor DH!!  This seriously sucks!  You should def call the doc.  I hope you get it all straightened out!
  • I had a c-section and I had vag pain with sex the first few times, but it has gotten tons better. I would def go to the dr if I were u. I don't think that's normal, and u r not being irrational!

  • Call your doctor!

DD was delivered via forceps and there was A LOT of tearing - internally, externally and even my urethra a little.  It took quite a while to heal.  Even with all of that tearing I am still able to have and enjoy sex with my DH, it was uncomfortable at first and still is on occasion, but definitely not excruciating.

If you don't trust your doc to be honest, maybe see someone else, who didn't do the cutting and stitching.

My cousin is a physical therapist who specializes in women's issues, I'd absolutely recommend talking with your doctor or making an appointment to see a physical therapist. This is exactly the type of issue my cousin deals with on a regular basis!

Dr had to remove a stitch that was about 2 inches long (omfg), but other than that, everything was fine.

I will note that I was BF/pumping exclusively until about 3-4 weeks ago.  I started weaning then and haven't pumped since Wed.  I was on Errin (bc pill), but haven't taken that at all the month of March bc of my pharmacy effing things up.
