Now he has an opinion!

Does anyone have any reviews (Bad/Good) on furniture that has been bought at Buy Buy Baby or Babies R Us??

I just bought furniture at Bellini's, and my husband flipped out when he found out how much I spent (That's what he gets for not wanting to come with me). So now he wants to go look and compare the furniture and prices at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us. I don't know if their quality is the same as Bellini's (that's my agruement), but I can't tell for sure since I don't know anyone that has purchased furniture from these places. Both my sisters bought their furniture at Bellini's and their stuff still looks brand new, 2 kids and 5 years later...

Any feedback would be helpful..

Re: Now he has an opinion!

  • You hadn't discussed furniture with him or shown him pictures/talked prices?  He didn't go with you?  Do you have a copy of Baby Bargains?

Good furniture that won't break the bank can be bought at both stores.  There will be less sturdy items sold there as well, but there are great solid options for less than a third of what you may have paid on a crib at Bellini.

  • Both stores carry furniture that is crappy and carry furniture that is nice.  It's about the brand of furniture moreso than the store it's sold at.  You'd have to get a copy of Baby Bargains and look up each brand.

We looked at both and found a great set that we love at BBB and we're pretty picky.

  • To me, a lot of the furniture at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us looks cheap, and is cheap. It's not nearly as heavy or sturdy as other brands. IMHO, you get what you pay for. I say if you have the money to spend on Bellini, go for it, they have awesome stuff and you can definitely use it for future children and pass it down to family and friends!

  • Thanks for your advice!!! I plan on using the furniture I purchased for all future children... and then converting the furniture. I 100% agree - you pay for what you get!!!

    Thank you!

  • We originally planned on getting the baby's furniture at Babies R Us, but then when we walked into Bellini we fell in love with a specific set that they had in antique white which was our preference for color. We walked around as the owner was so helpful, he knew we were shopping around and wasn't pushy. We thought about it for a couple of weeks or so and decided on Bellini which honestly wasn't that much more expensive than the crib and changing table we were looking at in Babies R Us. Granted they were having a 20% off sale which helped tremendously. We also ended up with a glider where we were able to choose our fabric which was comparable to the Pottery Barn glider but $400 less. I think you made a great choice and I can't wait for our furniture to come at the end of April :-)

  • i purchased the baby cache brand at BRU and am very happy with it. it's very sturdy and i expect it to last until high school graduation. it's expensive ($450-550 per piece) but it's good stuff. i haven't had it that long so i can only speak to its construction.

i think you get what you pay for and if you're looking to get through the long haul, you're going to have to spend more money. if you're the type that likes your furninture to change with the times, get something cheaper. my DH didn't like the prices but he's a cheapskate who doesn't know or care anything about quality.

Omg, how beautiful is that store? It's like the mecca of baby stores! Do you know the name of the furniture you bought? I was having such a hard time finding furniture that i loved.. but as soon as I walked into Bellini I found a million things I loved and had a hard time picking between all the styles! I also got everything at 20% off which was a huge help!! The furniture will last forever.. so I guess we made a good decision!!
