Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 16 months 4 wks
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I"ve been sad and worried (see more below). But also my niece (6) was supposed to be in my brother's wedding (her father) and now her mom isn't letting her go, or maybe she is - basically she's using my niece as a tool against her ex b/c she's jealous, but I haven't seen her in a really long time and I miss her. LB has gotten hurt everytime he's been in my care this last week, which also sucks. Most of the time it's self-inflicted and nothing I could do, but last night I needed to pull him out from under the computer desk and i bumped his head on the chair and now he has another bruise
However, he's learned to rock in his rocking chair & is getting the hang of hokey pokey - also did VERY well at swim class this week and slept like a champ afterwards
(3) Next appointment date? May sometimes for the 18 month appt.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? I'm just feeling the pressure of being the only one in the household with an income, and with congress only temporarily making these couple week measures, it just sucks. I think I'm falling into a depression again. So, I'm sure he notices something when he's with me, which has made bedtime tougher this last week.
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?) I think some stuff you really have to do so that they can have a safe environment to explore and play in. We took away the coffee table, which was large and clunky and dangerous, but we put up gates and put outlet covers on, and latches on the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection? I don't think there will be anymore kids, but yes, we're back on BCP
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff? I just wore the maternity clothes I had - why waste them if you have them!
(8) Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)? It's hard b/c I'm not there during the week days and that seems to be when most classes are (and since MH doesn't drive, he doesn't take him out of the house). I do take him to swim class on Sundays.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 39w2d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Still feeling done! This little boy can come out at ANY time. Also, at my first internal done at 38 weeks I was not dilated or anything, but at yesterday's appointment I was dilated to 1cm and my cervix shortened a bit so I guess that is promising news even though I know it really means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I go back tomorrow to get my BP checked again. My normal weekly appointment yesterday I had a BP reading of 150/80! My doctor said I had no Pre-E signs so she wasn't worried about it all that much, but rather than sending me to the hospital she did some blood work and checked my reflexes, vitals etc. The blood work came back normal, but they want me to come back in tomorrow to have it rechecked. She indicated she was going to do another internal and maybe discuss inducing me on Monday (which technically is my due date anyway). So we will see how it goes tomorrow, thinking positive and relaxing thoughts
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? My blood pressure issue above.

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 6.5 months
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? tired...LO has been waking up a lot at night. I suspect teething so hopefully a tooth pops out soon & we can all get back to sleep!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? nothing scheduled...
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? lack of sleep!
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?) This is my question so I am interested in everyone's answers. We covered the electrical outlets the other night and plan on getting a safety gate for the stairs, but not sure about picking everything up off the floor and low tables
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection? I haven't yet, but probably will get back on them after nursing.
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff? I stuck with the maternity stuff. It was still really hot so a lot of the stuff I wore while pg were just loose dresses so it was no problem to wear them while pg and after.
(8) Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)? we really don't have much time with me working full time during the week, but we start swim lessons next weekend. When those are over (and if she is crawling by then) I would like to do the baby yoga with her.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm exhausted - the boys' sleep has gone to sh!t lately (I think it's a combination of cutting molars, sickness and a growth spurt or something developmental happening) and it's been rough on the entire household.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Just their 12 month check up, which I need to schedule. I guess I should get their birthday party organized too, eh?
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? The sleep issues.
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?) We've kinda gotten it halfway done. We have protectors on all of the power plugs (very important here since 240v is standard) and baby gates on their play area, but other than that not much. We need to figure out a way of blocking off all of the power cords in the living room so they can roam around in there, and we need to get those drawer stops for the kitchen (we try not to let them even go in there much, but since our living areas are pretty open to each other, it's hard to keep them out all the time).
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection? I got Mirena pretty much as soon as I could. It's pretty good - effective and it makes my skin look great - but it's KILLED my sex drive so I want to get rid of it. Since we don't want any more kids, I'm strongly considering Essure - I don't really want to be on hormones until menopause.
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff? I have mega stomach issues - the skin is sooo stretched that it's very saggy and baggy so I just kept wearing maternity clothing (the waistbands accommodated the bulge). Now I just fold it into my jeans. And yes, having to do that makes me want to cry.
Interesting that you mention that....I feel the same way! I love the ease of Mirena, but my sex drive is nonexistent! I just chalked it up to lack of sleep and time, but maybe the Mirena is partly the culprit.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 8 months
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Shortly after learning to crawl about two weeks ago, he learned to pull himself to standing. Yikes! I'm so not prepared for a walker! Scary!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? End of April for 9 month visit.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Crankiness. I think he's about to cut his first uppers. His top gums are soooo swollen. Otherwise it's been an awesome week! I'm off school for spring break, and we've been having lots of fun together.
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?) Somewhat. We've set up a play area in the family room for him with foam tiles on the floor and gates all around. And we bought gates for all the stairs, but haven't put them up yet. He is crawling, but so far he's never unattended except maybe for a moment in the his play area or in his room with the door closed. We do need to set them up soon, though, as well as something done with the cords, outlets, cabinets, and a hearth protector (it's a very rough, jagged-edged stone).
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection? Like Lisa, I'm on Mirena. I plan to keep it in for another year or so before we TTC again. Then I'll probably do Essure, since we probably only want two.
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff? You mean I'm supposed to fit into my pre-pg stuff?!?! :P Seriously, though, I don't, except for things like sweatpants. I bought new clothes for work and simply have a limited wardrobe thus far. I'm concerned about summer coming, though, since I have absolutely no warm-weather clothes that fit. Sigh. Someday I'll lose these last 15 pounds and get my real clothes out of the attic.
(8) Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)? We do Kindermusik on Saturday mornings currently. Our teacher breaks for the summer, though, so we only have 8 weeks left of that. Since I'm off in the summer, we're planning on doing two weekly activities; swim lessons on Saturdays and My Gym (kind of like Gymboree, but closer to our house) on Wednesdays. I also plan on checking out the library, since I know they have storytime a few times a week.
I have no sex drive. Like...NONE. Absolutely no desire at all. When we do the deed, honestly it's because I feel guilty that I haven't put out in so long.
(And I even enjoy it when we do it - I just have no drive of my own to initiate sex or even feel like I need it.)
For ages I wasn't sure if I could blame Mirena. I got it when the boys were about 4 months old, so it's not like my libido was especially high anyway lol. But since then, even after my sleep patterns returned to normal, it's just...not...there. So I did some googling and it seems to be relatively common - it's even on the list of possible side effects. And since I've had the same problem on other forms of hormonal birth control as well (I noticed a difference between being on the pill and having Implanon), I do think it's quite likely to blame in my case.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
14 months and one week
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Libby's talking up a storm! She's now using 2 word phrases...like mama bye-bye, daddy nigh-night, brush teeth or baby stroll. My mom got her a double-stroller for her dolls and she's been pushing it all around the house...it's SO cute!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
15 month check-up in May.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Some wakefulness earlier this week. Also, we've noticed a few times that randomly, her bottom lip will get a blue/purple dot in the middle of it. It looks like she kissed a ripe blueberry. We have no idea what it is and Dr. Google leads to everything from heart/circulation issues to a big fat nothing. So, we've got a call into the pedi about it. There seems to be no rhyme or reason when it shows up and it only lasts a few seconds.
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?)
Sorta. We keep the doors to our room, my mom's room and the bathroom closed at all times. We have a gate that we put across the entry to the kitchen, so she cannot get in there either. The entry way, living/dining room and her room have been "baby proofed" mainly in that we've put everything away that she cannot have. We didn't install latches, etc. at all. We used white duct tape over outlets. And we keep an eye on her since we do have lamps and digital equipment she can reach. She knows shes shouldn't tough certain things (like the lamp) and will say "no-no" when she goes near it with her hand. Too cute!
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection?
Nope. We're using condoms and soon, FAM.
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff?
Lots of leggings or yoga pants, nursing tanks and cartigan sweaters or hoodies. I was in my PP jeans two weeks after she was born.
(8) Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)?
No. We want to try Kindermusik this summer though.
(9) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
Working on dropping 20-30 lbs before we TTC in August.
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 5 months at the end of next week
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
we've successfully dropped the 1am feeding, so LO's only eating once/night now. but he's still waking up a zillion times, needing his binky reinserted. and one night, he didn't eat at all, and had a *horrible* day the next day sleep-wise - I'm wondering if it's related. and...i go back to work on Tuesday. trying to keep a good attitude about it, but
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
6 month in May
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
LO slept well last week, when he was sick. this week, have had some days of awful sleep and fighting naps. today was okay, i'm hoping it stays this way. also dealing with having to go back to work.
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?)
not yet. our floor plan is super open, so we'll have to childproof the entire first floor. haven't thought about it much, but off the top of my head, I'll want to cover the outlets, get everything off the floor, wrap the fireplace, and lock most (but not all) of the kitchen cabinets/drawers
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection?
Nope, condoms
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff?
yoga pants, sweatpants, nursing tanks, sweatshirts. i looked (and mostly still do, though I suppose that needs to change next week) like a total scrub.
(8) Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)?
I would love to take E to music/movement classes and story time - need to find weekend ones
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? my anniversary is tomorrow. yay, date night (after watching basketball)
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? J got a couple more shots recently. Oh and we just started taking him to a NSA Chiropractor to gently persuade his body to realign in the hip area. Since birth his right leg has been very turned in. Probably in large part to however he was positioned before birth. I just didn't want him to begin to develop a bad habit since it was so obvious that his one hip is a lot tighter (and causing the turned in leg). It's mostly like massage work so he loves it
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? nothing really.
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?) not really, rather than childproof our main living area we just let J go wild in the basement. He plays in his playpen while we get ready in the morning. We did cover all outlets and shorten the cords on the blinds throughout the house. And put a gate at the top of the stairs. We really try to teach him limits (don't touch the tv) rather than buy a device to cover/protect/lock stuff.
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection? no, i will not ever go back on hormonal bc. i chart and we take other precautions if needed.
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff? yoga pants and nursing tanks. (8) Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)? we take him swimming a lot. they have a music teacher and indoor PE at his daycare (just let them run around with balls and riding toys from what I can tell) so while I wish I could participate more I don't double up on that stuff at this point. But I can't wait for toddler gymnastics and baby ballet (both are parent/tot).
(9) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?I had a complication with the cyst that developed during my PG and it swelled up really huge again.... it seemed to be about the same size as it was during my PG so I wasn't too concerned...until it started to really hurt. it was gradual so i started to tolerate it well but decided to call the specialist for a follow up appt. before i was able to go the pain escalated to where i was so painful i thought i was going to throw up.... and just as i was about to call for a same day appt, it ruptured!! i immediately felt better so that was good... but now i have to talk to the Dr and find out what my options are... he had previously said we could just watch it as long as it wasn't causing pain or problems w/urination but now i am worried this may happen again? need to find out if we can just wait and see or if he recommends surgery to have it removed. the thought of surgery is just a little scary, not b/c i am worried about anesthesia or an epidural, but b/c there is a risk of incontinence and i really don't want to have to end up w/that problem.as far as Miss A is concerned, she is continuing to amaze me with all that she learns! she is like a little sponge
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? i've got a follow up appointment w/the urologist this week to see if i need surgery or not
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?we both got colds - DH got sick from the hospital and brought it home and got us sick. Miss A was a trooper but I felt so horrible so between working and taking care of her, i was really struggling... but I am starting to feel better now at least. It was really hard for me to take care of her while I was sick, it just made me think "how would I do this with 2 kids?!"
(5) Did you childproof your house? If so, what did you do? (or did you not and just plan on being extra, extra watchful?)heh, we're really bad and haven't done much. none of our outlets are covered downstairs. in her playroom upstairs, most of the outlets are behind furniture... for the ones that are not, i've plugged things into them. sure, she can yank those out of the outlet if she wants to, but it gives me enough time to get to her before she shoves a finger in there - she's never unsupervised so that's all we need...just a few extra seconds to get across the room
(6) Do you go back on BCP between kids? If not, what is your method of protection? we haven't. we had trouble conceiving the first time around, so i think we're in a place now where we feel like "if it happens, it happens" but we're not actively TTC right now. (and very early post partum when i really was not ready to get PG again, we didn't really have to worry about it b/c it was rarely happening LOL)
(7) What did you wear while PP but before you could fit into your pre-preg stuff?just my maternity stuff
(8) Do you do any regular activities outside the house and if so, what (e.g., library visits, Kindermusik or the like, etc.)?we do "baby bounce basics" at our local library when it works out w/my work schedule and i'm home w/her. otherwise, we aren't doing any structured activities yet. i keep wondering if we should do a gymboree class or something, but it just seems so expensive to me?
