My parents are going by my sister and her family for Thanksgiving and I really want to go. I miss my little nephew and niece (ages 4 & 2). We'd be driving from Chicago to Branson, MO.
You're not crazy. Although I would only do it if your pg has been relaticely uneventful so far and you're not considered high risk.?
Make sure your dr is able to fax your records to the hospital, if need be. Or arrange to take a copy of the important stuff with you.?
We were driving back & forth to PA (2hours each way) every weekend until 36 weeks. Most of the time we were staying the whole weekend. As long as you're comfortable with going to the hospital there (if needed) then I don't see a problem.
I think it would depend on how you are feeling then and how your pregnancy is going at that time. You never know with these babies, they like to surprise us :-) I felt physically fine during my 34-35 week time period. I'm from STL and to be honest I would be more concerned with the weather going and coming back during that time.
Definitely talk to your doc. If you get the okay, I would just take some extra time with your drive so you can make sure to stop every 2 hours and get out and walk around, just for blood flow.
Also, if you're anything like me, you'll have to pee every half hour. So that might tack some time onto your trip as well!
There's no way they all could come to you, is there?
I'm doing at 11 hour drive at about 34 weeks and yes, we are probably a little crazy. My doctor OK'ed it and just told me to be aware of nearby hospitals along the way and at the beach (we're going to the Outer Banks for Thanksgiving). We plan on driving 6 hours the first day and 5 hours the next becuase I know it's not going to be a comfortable trip.
