11w3d - Threw up for the first time..

Isn't this supposed to be getting better, not worse?  Granted, I've had nausea for weeks, but why am I just now throwing up?  Weird.

Do doctors prescribe Zofran for nausea as well as vomiting - or just if you're vomiting a lot?  What's the cost?  I'm thinking of asking for some on Tuesday.

  • I was the exact same. Just nausea to start with then this week I just started every morning throwing up. I thought the same that it was supposed to be getting better

  • It's made for both, but I think it helps more with vomiting than it does nausea. And Zofran is pretty expensive. Hopefully you have insurance to cover it though.

    Sorry you're throwing up! :(

  • I started throwing up at 12 weeks also...so I'm right there with ya :( I'm hoping my 14th week will give me some relief!!

  • I've been throwing up since before I even took a HPT, and I am still throwing up. For me, the Zofran doesn't help with the nausea at all, but it does keep the vomiting to a minimum. Some days, even with the Zofran, I puke all day. Maybe tomorrow (14 weeks) I will miraculously get better. Confused
  • I know, I thought it was supposed to ease up too.  My doctor told me zofran helps more for vomiting rather than nausea.  However, when I took it for the first time last week, it eased both nausea and vomiting. I felt great after.  As pp said, it can be pretty expensive.  My doctor's office needed to get a prior authorization done first so it took a day. Feel better soon!

  • I didn't start throwing up my last pregnancy until 2nd tri and didn't stop until almost 3rd tri.  I've waiting for it to be the same this time.

  • oh man! there is still a chance I could start vomiting! I have been nauseous on and off since day 1 but I thought I was lucky to miss the vomiting.  I think it is coming, because I have felt like it was coming a few times but then it subsides.

cross my fingers I dont have to join that club.  I am allergic to Zofran

  • I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and I was really looking forward to the nausea getting better. You guys are scaring me. The zofran has done wonders for my nausea. The doctor put me on it when I started getting carsick, and I have a 40 minute commute to work. I hope you all start feeling better soon.
  • There's a generic for Zofran. Cost me $6.

  • I don't find that it helps with the nausea any, just the vomiting. My dr wouldn't prescribe it for me last pregnancy, said I wasn't throwing up enough, and I was throwing up almost every day. I got some from a friend this time (leftover from her pregnancy) but I've used them sparingly. I've thrown up twice while taking one, the taste is terrible to me!
