you had another baby what would you name him/her?
*I am NOT pregnant but was just thinking how I love the name Kennedy (always have) but can't name our little girl that because then we have 2 Presidents. And I love the name Porter (LOVE LOVE LOVE it) but would it be weird that our friends have a little boy Finn and if we were playing Calling out "Hey Lincoln, Porter & Finn come here"
I know I am weird but I am brainless from the sick kiddos in our house so let's play What would you name your kid.
Re: What if...
We already have a "theme" going w/ our boys, in that they go by a nickname of their middle name (confusing much?).
If we had a girl, I would fight to name her Sara Jones, after my grandmother and call her Jones.
If we had a boy, I would petition for his name to be _______ Declan (haven't thought of first name) and he would go by Dec.
If #2 is a girl I will fight like a mad woman for Kate. I adore that name...so classic and pretty. DH is not a fan, but I have faith in my powers of persuasion (read: stubborn refusal to concede).
If #2 is a boy we already have the first name picked out--Desmond and will call him "Dez" (but spelled Des)--but the middle name is TBD. I'm a ridiculous Dave Matthews fan and I'm dy-ing to use an "M" name so his initials will be DMB.
I wanted Luke Alexander for another boy. I love the name Luke and Alexander is a family name on my mom's side and its also DHs middle name.
I really like Lucy, too.
But we're done. Maybe we'll name a dog or something
Ugh! I'm with you on this one!
Ex-H and I had a long long time to come up with our names and I'm in love with them. Of course I wouldn't use them now becuase that would just be weird but they were:
Boy: Ex's first name Zander (would go by Zander).
Girls: Kaegy (family name pronounced: Kay-gee) Mae and Etta Jean.
All of the pregnancies that we were able to test were boys but for some reason we were both convinced we would have twin girls so we had two girls names.
We named Joseph after DH's father, but if we'd had a girl (singleton), we would have named her Josephine. I love that name for a girl.
Strangely enough, we would have had no problem calling a girl "Joe" for short, but somehow we hate it as a nickname for Joseph.
DH and I have been talking a lot about baby names lately.
So far we have our names narrowed down to:
Girl: Charlotte, Lorelei, or Zoe
Boy: Owen, Wesley, or Andrew
We also love the name Austin but probably won't use it since DH is opposed to using the name of the city we live in.
LOVE this name!!
Another boy would be Henry or Russell
a girl would be harder. DH is in love with Abigail, but I really like Ruth, Susan, and Clara/Clare.
Our girl name is Anne Elizabeth, nicknamed Annie, in honor of my mom, who is Elizabeth Anne.
Our other boy name is probably Samuel John or Samuel James or John Samuel.
If we have my way (and another girl), we'll keep with the flower theme and probably, hopefully Zinnia. I love that name
No clue what we'd do for a boy. DH is obsessed with Harry Potter and wants to name a son Sirius. Take a guess what I think about that...
We had Desmond on our Short list for a middle name but Lincoln David flowed better than Lincoln Desmond
The second baby is always harder to name. I don't think we came up with Lincoln until 3rd trimester and finally set down and hashed it out.
I'm on the fence on whether I want another kiddo or not (DH surprisingly is on board for another when he's always told me he only wanted two!), but I've got a few names I love that just might make me want another. (That's perfect logic, right? Have a baby to use a name? Right?!?!)
I'm loving Vivienne. Not sure if I want it for a first or middle name but that's my girl name. For boys, I LOVE Dalton, Finnegan (or Finn) and Miles.
Count me in this category too!
My brother and I both go by our middle names (I go by a nickname for my middle name, actually). I wonder how unusual that practice is?
I have thought often of names for future kids, and (assuming my current bf is the father of those children):
Our son would have to have the same first name as BF, who shares that first name with his own father and paternal grandfather. They each have different middle names. I'd lobby to use the spelling his grandfather uses, but honestly the name is not one I would have ever considered for my kid. I think I'd get to pick the middle name all on my own, and I am honestly stumped on it. Well, that's not true--I'd probably pick the name my dad and brother share, but I wouldn't be thrilled about it. Ha ha!
I've always loved the girl name Ella Marie, to honor my grandmothers. Another favorite girl name (Sophia) sounds good with BF's last name. We haven't actually discussed girl names, so naturally I assume I get to totally pick.
Of course, all of this depends on the name my bro & SIL pick out for their third. They think they're having a boy and managed to avoid my fave boy names (and family names) for their first 2. If they have a girl and want to use Marie, I might have to cutabitch.

I love Lorelei for a girl, but evidently it is a German name (DH is German) and Lorelei is some creature that lured sailors to their death, so he said no way because everyone in Germany (including all of his family) knows that fairytale and would associate her with that. Bummer since I have loved that name since I heard it on Gilmore Girls. DH likes Josiah for a boy but I'm not a huge fan.
When #2 comes, we are going to have a heck of a time naming. We didn't decide on DD's name for sure until we were driving to the hospital to have her.
If we have another girl her name will be McKenna and if we have a boy his middle name would more than likely be Michael since that is DH's middle name. And my DD's name is Lily. I have to say I like your taste in names
I love Pearl and Kennedy. I also like Evelyn, Grayson, Taryn, Lila, Charlotte, James, Scott, Vivian, Lucas, Syrus, Miranda ...
Of course, these are all names we had to cross off due to either our last name or family names.
I have NO idea what we'd actually name our second child.
Our girl name was Elena Delphine, but alas we have a boy. Other girl names in the running were Aurelia, Mariela, Mireille, Irina, Anais, Karina, Celestine and Collette.
Boy names on our current list include (top contenders bolded, mn is Tiberius after DH's grandfather). Dexter got nixed because of the serial killer connection, but I'd still use it.

I really like the name Michael, but it is forbidden in my house to name a child who might be called "Mike Litt" (say it fast!)
One our short list of girls names was "Alice Pearl" and I love it! The very day after I had made our list, LLCG announced her little girl's name. Yep, I totally came up with the same name. But her's has a much more sentimental connection.
OMG!!! This is totally the case for us too!!! I HATE that we can't use it because he is so opposed to that name for that same reason.
We were going to use Kennedy for DD#2's middle name because DH & I both love it and finally came to an agreement. Then we realized it might be a little weird to have a Reagan and Kennedy (even if it was a middle name) and changed it to Kendall!
OMG I didn't know this at all and this is our top contender for a girl!!
Our Family Blog
Don't worry - if you don't have any Germans (like from Germany, not German ancestry) in your family, it's totally fine to use. I don't think most Americans know this story.
For a girl, we had picked out Keelin Riley. Not sure if I still want it or not.
We had originally wanted Magnus or Wolfgang (not a joke, we really like it), but got talked out of them. We think we will use our original boy middle if we have another boy--Reinheardt. Right now, I am totally in love with Hudson. I think Hudson Reinheardt sounds good.
Crazy! DH's middle name is also Michael. Creepy! I haven't met anyone else who really likes the name McKenna!
I really like Xander for a boy. (Is this stupid if it's with X but not short for Alexander?) DH has even practiced yelling this upstairs as if our fictional son needs to clean up a mess.
I like Elle for a girl. My grandma is named Eleanor so I think this is a nice, modern way to use her name. However, DH isn't crazy about it because he can only think of Legally Blonde.
if i had ever had a boy we would have named him donovan and called him 'van'. its my maiden name.
we named annie as i was being wheeled in to my c-section so i cannot fathom what we would name a fourth girl. the other finalists were catherine victoria and annalise victoria. girl names i loved that dh vetoed were vivian and wren.
