I'm in the process of weaning DD (my supply was shot in the afternoon/night and ever since starting her on FF, she's suddenly gone from waking 3-5 xs/night to eat to just once!). I would like to continue BF first thing in the morning and for her night waking.
Has anyone successfully kept just 1-2 feedings/day w/out completely losing their supply? And done that for awhile? I'm really really hoping to so please tell me yes ![]()
Re: successfully partially wean for a while w/out completely losing supply?
Sure, that's what I'm doing now. ?I have an opportunity to go back to work 1 day a week so I decided to wean her during the day. ?I nurse her first thing in the morning & right before bed. ?Occassionally I will also nurse her during the night if she wakes up and seems frantic for food. ?
It took me about a month to wean - I am prone to clogged ducts so I took it really, really slow. ?But she now takes 3 bottles a day and my supply has adjusted accordingly.?
I am down to just pumping once in the day (at lunch) and i get next to nothing so I am calling that quits, but I have still been able to feed her for her AM and night feedings, I have been doing that for 2 weeks. I am curious to see what happens when I stop pumping during the day.
