F/U to books instead of cards for a shower

I kinda sampled from a few of your great responses yesterday and came up with 2 possibilities.  What do you think and which sounds better?

Help Courtney and Shane build a library! In lieu of a card, please bring a copy of your favorite children's book to preserve your first wishes for Baby Claire.

or

From Peter Rabbit to Mother Goose, Goodnight Moon and Dr. Seuss,
Curious George and Winnie the Pooh The little Engine that Could, too.
In lieu of a card, please bring your favorite childhood classic, with your first wishes to Baby Claire written inside!

    Mostly, 1, but I'd edit it to include part of 2, plus change it to Baby Claire's library.  So: 

    Help Baby Claire build a library! In lieu of a card, please bring a copy of your favorite children's book and write your first wishes for Baby Claire in the cover.

    I liked the second a lot, too, but it's a lot to read and people without familiarity with the idea might get really bogged down in it.  (Personally, I'm thinking of my older relatives with not-great reading comprehension.)

    The second one is very cute.

    Not sure if you care, but I used this (just giving you another suggestion):

    Just one last request and we hope it's not hard.  Please bring a baby book in place of a card.  By signing your book we wil remember and share your special gift, even when you're not there.

    I like them both.  But I'd probably just go with Option 1, for the same reasons as the PP.  It is a lot of reading to get through just to get the important part.

     Agree with PP, I think maybe if you incorporate both, its just all sounds good...

    Option 1. Honestly, I quit reading the 2nd one halfway thru. A little long-winded in my opinion.

    For our shower we went with something similar to option 1.  Option 2 is cute but a little long winded.
