Trouble TTC

Full bladder for IUI monitoring????

I have my IUI monitoring appt on Monday. I called my nurse to see if I needed to do anything special for it and she just called back and left a vm but it wasn't clear. She said no need to fast, but to come in with a full ping (it wad hard to hear her at the end). I know I should just call back to clarify, but I do not want to nag (even though we are spending tons of $$$ on this). So, do I need a full bladder??

Re: Full bladder for IUI monitoring????

  • They usually want a full bladder for abdominal u/s and an empty bladder for vaginal u/s.  So I empty my bladder before monitoring appointments but I have a full bladder for my actual IUI.

  • My RE's offices always wanted an empty bladder for the monitoring (u/s) appts. Ya know, I don't think I was ever told either way for the actual IUI. Or, at least I don't remember. Anyways, GL!

  • I always need to have an empty bladder for monitoring u/s and wasn't told anything for the actually IUI.  All vaginal u/s are done with an empty bladder.

This.  I don't know how much of a difference it makes for the actual IUI.

  • Everything the pp have said. Full bladder for the abdominal (the jelly on the belly) and empty for vag u/s.  I usually need to drink a bunch before having bloodwork as they can't find my veins.   When I had my last IUI, I asked the nurse if I could pee first and she said no, it was better for me too hold it. Note to self: no big iced coffee before IUI as it is a lot to hold in!
