Weighing in on previous UOs- I think being a SAHM is way harder than my 9-5 job, if you have a great pregnancy body- flaunt it!, I'm not a lush or alcoholic by any means, but I definitely miss a nice, cold beer after a long day, and I hate the skinny jean trend.
For my own UO (and I definitely think this is an unpopular opinion), I'm not into those frilly, elastic headband thingies on babies' (girls obviously) heads. Maybe I'll change my mind if I have a girl, but for now, I think they look a little ridiculous.

I hate seeing 15 new pics of someones baby on Facebook - DAILY. One or two will suffice.
Not excited about having a baby shower.
Annoyed everyone around me knows what's best for me and baby.
Someone telling me they will be getting my baby when it is born. NO. You ask... I probably have a problem with you 'taking' it, or assuming you will get by unharmed by doing such.
I feel better now!
My opinion is that being a SAHM is easier than working.
Check in with me again when I have two living kids, then I'll probably be saying the opposite.
I don't know what you did for a living, but I completely disagree. At work I could go to the bathroom when I needed...eat when it was lunch time...shower every morning and actually blow dry my hair and put on makeup...I could make a phone call undisturbed...I could come home to a house that didn't look like a tornado hit recently...I could have adult conversation...I had breaks and down time...I could make and go to appointments alone or at all...I could enjoy a car ride alone and maybe blast the radio if I so desired...go into a store and get in and out quickly....so many things that I almost NEVER have time for/can do being a SAHM. It is so much more work staying home than going to work...I would have to say you are the very first person I hve ever heard say different.
I think it's all relative. SAHMs think they had it easier when they worked, but when they were working, they didn't also have a kid. Working moms come home and still have to do all the stuff the SAHMs have to do, but they have less time to do it. BUT - I get the impression from some of my SAHM friends that because they SAH, their DH's don't do so much around the house, and that sucks and makes their lives harder. I am grateful that I get some adult interaction during the day, and I know it's hard on SAHMs to be on duty as Mom all day. But also -- my SAHD gets to take midday naps sometimes.
You know, all kids are different, and all parents are different. For me personally, I think my life would be easier if I were a SAHM instead of having a stressful job and trying to juggle that with being the best mom I can. I know my DH is MUCH happier and less stressed as a SAHD and working parttime freelance from home than he was fulltime working and trying to be a good Dad.
I'm really not a fan of the super cartoon-y baby clothes. I'm not talking about a cute elmo shirt or something. I mean, the very babyish cartoon animals and prints with crazy sayings and wacky colors. It's just too much. My mom, on the other hand, loves that stuff, so I'm sure we'll have plenty of it in the closet and I'll happily accept it. But, I don't plan to buy it myself.
Oh man, the alcohol thing. Alcoholism = a dependence on alcohol. Wanting a beer or glass of wine once a week or so =/= dependence. Not everyone drinks alcohol to get drunk. I love the taste of good, craft beers. So, I miss the flavor.
My unpopular opinion is that I hate self rightous pregnant ladies that try to make me feel like cr@p because I'm not eating vegitables at every meal, or I have a Dr Pepper once ever few days, or that I have some sugar every now and then.
Seriously get over yourself.
(I haven't seen this on this board but on a lot of first tri)
I don't think pregnant women should drink coffee. I'm sorry - just because you are allowed one cup a day - doesn't mean you should do it.
The studies stating that it is safe to drink caffeine during pregnancy were probably conducted by pregnant woman who love caffeine. I love caffeine just as much as the next person, but what's more important - my "fix" or my baby?
You don't need caffeine, you are probably dehydrated - try water - if that doesn't work, caffeine free teas can (especially peppermint) can do the same job.
Haha that's cute. I drink one cup of coffee or 1 coke a day. I did with my daughter and she didn't come out shaking from a caffeine addiction.

I am already dreading having a shower. I hate being the center of attention. My sister already wants to start talking about one and planning one- maybe she can just pretend to be me. LOL
I'm the same way! My family wants me to have two since I live out of state from a lot of friends and family.... I'm hoping I can just get by with one
They usually throw people at work showers too.... too bad you can't have a nice cocktail prior to it lol
I love you ladies and this is not directed at you, but I find it so annoying people on here are already worried about showers. You don't need to register and give your BFF a guest list at 8.weeks. If someone wants to throw you a shower they will, and if they want you coming up with a guest list they will ask. I would hope between your mom, husband and a close friend they would be able to figure out who is important to you.
I agree... I definitely did NOT bring it up. My sister says she is so excited that she just can't wait to start planning. I keep putting her off.
Ditto. My sister has actually been hounding me for weeks to tell her some dates that will work for us & send her a list.

Are people really comparing caffeine to crack and heroine?? LOL
I would like to believe that the addiction levels are just a tad different. And as for withdrawals - if my SEVERELY diabetic father who is in kidney failure and on Dialysis every day of his life can quit smoking and coffee with minimal side effects - i'm pretty sure you caffeine addicts can do the same. Suck it up!

I don't believe 1 glass of wine is ok for a pregnant woman. We are well aware that alcohol affects babies. There is no evidence of how much alcohol it takes to do harm, so WHY drink it at all???

I am not self righteous or "holier than thou". My doctor has given me a list of things that could potentially harm the baby that I am carrying, and therefore I stay away from those things. And, quite frankly I think it's selfish if you can't give up those things for a short period of time.
