Good evening!
A few things happened overnight with out "Little Peanut" as K likes to call her. Nothing major or unexpected.
First, they decided to shut off her Dopamine (blood pressure medication) because Addy is doing well and her pressures are great with out it.
Second, she was started on D5 because her sodium levels are increased. The reason for the increase is that she is losing fluid through her skin and the sodium stays in. They give the D5 to even out this imbalance but with that (D5 contains sugar) her blood glucose has increased. For the increase they put her on an insulin drip. As of 9pm tonight they are weaning both the D5 and insulin drip because her sodium and blood glucose levels are getting better.
Third, they gave her another round of sufactant (a medication to help her lungs develop) because she was having some issues and needed her ventilator turned up a little. They had turned it back down while I was there tonight.
Fourth, the spinal tap done yesterday was okay. Dr. Landrum (Addy's NICU doc) is still deciding how long she will treat with antibiotics. It will be somewhere between 2-3weeks. They did another blood culture for her infection and will see tomorrow if they can better identify the organism she is infected with so they can specify her antibiotics and get rid of her infection.
Fifth, she had a new tube placed. It is called a gavage and is used for feeding. It is fed through her nose and into her stomach. They are giving her 0.5cc of breast milk every 12hours to get her tummy ready for feedings.
I guess the last few things aren't anything big. Her urine output has been great which is always good to hear. Her bilirubin is still elevated but is coming down from where is was. She continues to be under the bili lights and is being a "beach bumm." Today she weighed 560 grams (1lb 4oz). She is scheduled to have a Head Ultrasound on 4/4. This will check for any brain hemorrhages. Hopefully this will show nothing. Dr. Landrum doesn't see any evidence that she would have one but they need to check. She did say sometimes they see ones they don't expected to but we are praying Addy's ultrasound will be clear.
That is about all for today. I'm sorry this is so long. I just want to make sure everyone is updated. K and I are planning to set up a Caringbridge site for Addyson so everyone can get updates that way (I might just copy and paste to TB). For now Addyson is resting peacefully and got her first book read to her by Grandma Gwen earlier.
Attached are a few new pictures.
Thanks for everything (the T&Ps and love)! We love you all!

Re: Addyson update (long and detailed!) PIP
Amazing! So glad to hear that she is doing well. I'm currently at my dads house and I literally just told him about her 20 minutes ago. He immediately prayed and said he will be praying for her daily (he is a pastor). He just read this with me and insisted I let you know that she will be in his prayers. She's in mine as well!

I'm so glad to hear that she's doing well!
I'll pray that her head ultrasound comes up clean.
Glad she seems to be doing so much better! You seem to have some excellent Drs on the job, who are watching her very closely. Do you mind if I ask which hospital you are at? I promise not to stalk you, just curious who has the wonderful NICU.
I still can't get over how tiny she is!
She is at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis

Here We Go Again!!
Every time I see an update I get all teary eyed. I'm so happy that things look like they are going well, Addy is a little fighter! I think about and pray for your family constantly, and tell DH my family and my friends about Addyson's progress.
We are all rooting for her! I hope her ultrasound comes back clear and the antibiotics work their magic! Thank you for keeping us all updated!
After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls!

Seriously, if the pictures don't put it into perspective, that tiny hand print does. Peanut is definitely right.:) So glad that things are moving in the right direction and that you both are being well cared for. One of my closest childhood friends, Nancy, is a NICU nurse at Children's, she was there the night Addyson was born.
DS and I have been praying for your sweetheart and will continue to!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
