2. How long did you know your DH before you got married? 2 years. We wed on our anniversary.

3. Did you live together before marriage? Yes. We only dated about 2 months before unofficially moving in together and a year and a half before officially moving in together.

4. If not, do you think this choice helps your marriage or do you wish you had? N/A

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? Most definitely!!! It helped us is knowing what to expect when we did get married. We already knew what we were getting ourselves into, no surprises.

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? #1 was a surprise!! And still brewing

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? Neither. Baby came at just the right time. It's funny how much you don't realize you want a baby until it's here, lol

3. Did you live together before marriage? Not technically. We bought our home a few months before getting married and I had moved back into my mom and dads while finishing grad school. However, I still stayed at my house before we got married quite a bit.

2. How long did you know your DH before you got married? We knew/dated for a year before we got engaged, and were engaged 1 year before we got married.

3. Did you live together before marriage? Yep.

4. If not, do you think this choice helps your marriage or do you wish you had?

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? I do think it was helpful for us. We moved pretty quickly (my mom was a little nervous...!) but it felt right so we went with it. We got to know what to expect by living together.

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? We went off BCPs about 5 months after we got married. We knew we both wanted a family, and again, from the start we moved quickly, so we figured why not do the same with starting a family. It didn't happen as quickly as we thought though, we were actively TTC for 13 cycles before we "struck gold" (as DH calls it).

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? I'm glad we began trying when we did. Any earlier would have been too early, and any later would have pushed it back. I think everything happens for a reason, and we are in a really good place right now. We just moved into our house that we were having built and soon we can work on getting it ready for the twins! :-)

The first few months of living together was a huge adjustment for us both, and we ironed out a lot of rough spots. The stress of planning a wedding and becoming Mr. and Mrs. I think would have been a lot for us if we had to think about moving in together, merging households, etc. as well. My H and I traveled a lot for our jobs back then, which was stressful enough when planning a wedding. Every couple is different though, you have to decide what's best for both of you and what works for your relationship.

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? 4 years and a few months

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? I think we waited a good amount of time. We were able to travel a lot for work and leisure, focus on ourselves and developing our marriage. In hindsight though, we both would have been fine starting to try earlier.

3. Did you live together before marriage? just the 8 months we were engaged ALTHOUGH prior to that one of us was always at the other's house - never really spent a night apart!

If not, do you think this choice helps your marriage or do you wish you had? i can say that my previous relationship of 5.5 years ended due to us living together - i was happy for it tho, i got to see a lot of the true person he was. since DH was SOOOOO VASTLY different from him, i was fine just living together for a short time

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? i was completely happy with the decision - he believed in living separately until engaged!

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? i believe it was the perfect time...we had our honeymoon phase, traveled A LOT in that year and had tons of fun together, just like the previous 5 years together...besides i wanted one before i was 30! lol

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? A week. We got pregnant in my first cycle off of the pill.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? No as I have stated in the past, I had some medical issues that made us think having children would not be possible without assistance. I stopped the pill after we got back from the honeymoon and BAMM! I am pregnant! DH like to say he has super sperm!

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? I don't wish we started to concieve any earlier, but I do wish I had started seeing a fertility specialist earlier. I always knew there were going to be issues, I guess I was in denial.

It helped move along the relationship quicker. We probably would have waited longer to get married otherwise.

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? Around 5 months. I have PCOS so we didn't think we would get pregnant quickly. We conceived DS on our 6 month anniversary.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? My immediate response when I found out I was pregnant would be "waited longer" because it happened the very first month and I was expecting it to take 6+ mos. Now, I realize that it doesn't matter in the end, we'll be happy and fine!

3. Did you live together before marriage?No. He spent a lot of weekends here. DH has 2 sons from a previous marriage and has full custody of them. We didn't want to uproot them in the middle of the school year and thought that doing it after our wedding would work out better for them transition wise.

4. If not, do you think this choice helps your marriage or do you wish you had? I wish we had been able to sooner, just because we both have different ways of doing things. But doing what was best for the kids will always come first.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? I simply wish I had found DH sooner........and not wasted so much time on losers. We knew as soon as we started dating that we wanted children together. Once we were engaged, we decided to ttc as soon as we were married.

Did you live together before marriage?Sort of - DH is from Ukraine (where we met) and still lived with his parents. I lived with his family for about 9 months before we married and for several months after until we moved to the US. 4. If not, do you think this choice helps your marriage or do you wish you had?5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't?YES! We, of course, got to know each other better but in our case, his family really got to know me--the good and the bad. Since I took their son across the world, the fact that they know me so well really helps them support our decisions and our life here. 6. How long were you married before TTC #1?This is #1, so almost 5 years... 7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier?Well, we weren't actually trying. I was tired of the way I felt on BC and I knew that it wouldn't be terrible to get pregnant to so I went off the pill and just paid attention (loosely) to my cycles. It was a HUGE surprise to actually get pregnant, but for the best. Hubs comments now that had we talked about it, he never would have agreed but we're both so excited. The timing is actually perfect--I'm in a PhD program and next year is my "reading" year so I'll have a really flexible schedule and I'm due during our longest between- quarter break, so it shouldn't really affect my studies.

It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of relationships instead of the realities of living with someone all the time. We learn to work through our differences and to function as a unit (how romantic, huh?)

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? I think we got it just right. We enjoyed being newlyweds and worked on paying off a little bit of debt so we could be in a good place before thinking about a baby.

DH is in the military, so we were actually long distance for our whole relationship. We saw each other every 2.5 months for 1-2 weeks at a time. 4. I wouldn't have lived with him even if we had lived in the same area. We had a difficult first month adjusting to one another, but it made the prospect of finally being in the same zip code more exciting. 5. N/a 6. We were married 8 months when we started TTC #1. we were married almost 5 years when we started to TTC #2. 7. we started earlier than we planned, and we have no regrets. We've had a difficult time trying to create our family, and we are ready to have the heartache be over.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? I wish we would have started earlier, and the reason I say this is because my DH is in the navy on Subs .. The month we got married he was transfered to shore duty to be a teacher for the Navy for 3 years .. Well now that time will be up right when we have LO, so he won't be around for some key things that I wanted him around for .. hince the reason we started TTC so early ... but I tell myself, everything happens for a reason! We had and I think needed, the best first few years of marriage!

2. How long did you know your DH before you got married? 3 years. We met Sept of '01 and got married December '04.

3. Did you live together before marriage? Yes, very briefly. But in a very unconventional kind of way -- we were living in the spare room of another couple's home. So together, but not in our own place.

4. If not, do you think this choice helps your marriage or do you wish you had?

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? Absolutely. We learned a lot from the experience -- and from the other couple that we lived with (from them, it was mostly the things that we knew we DIDN'T want in our marriage!)

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? 4.5 years.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? No way. I LOVE that we had so much time to grow as a couple. We lived abroad, travelled the world, and had a complete blast doing so. We cherished our days as a childless couple. We were young when we married (23 and 25), so we both knew that we wanted to wait awhile before kids. 4.5 years was perfect.

3. Did you live together before marriage? Yes. We actually moved in together very quickly after getting together.

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? Yes, if for no other reason than we saved a LOT of money!! We both lived on our own prior to that (no roommates) and that was expensive! It was also helpful to take the stress off the first year of marriage. But I don't think I would have moved in with someone that I didn't plan on marrying.

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? About 4-5 months. It just took a REALLY long time!

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? Well, I'm not sure that an extra 5 months would have made a difference in the long run. I think the timing worked out well for us... although I still think about our failed IVF and think about "what if"...

2. How long did you know your DH before you got married? Since middle school (so...at least 10 years). We had been dating about 7 years.

3. Did you live together before marriage? Yes, after we got engaged, we ended up moving to a different city together.

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? I think it was helpful. We both went into marriage eyes wide open, and we had the chance to adjust to life together before the wedding.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? I suppose if we knew we'd get pregnant so quickly, we might have waited a few months, but I'm pretty happy about how things worked out.

Some of the answers on the sexy poll yesterday got me wondering...since there seems to be a bit of a divide between the Sept ladies on major life issues. So, here is my GTKY poll for the day.

1. How long have you been married? 2 years, 3 in Sept.

2. How long did you know your DH before you got married? almost 2 years

3. Did you live together before marriage? Yup.

4. If not, do you think this choice helps your marriage or do you wish you had? N/A

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? I think living together is like test driving before you buy. I knew exactly what I was getting. I already knew all his habits and we were used to living with one another. When we got married, there was no surprises. We were also a bit older when we got married (29 and he was 37) so we were both more set in our ways, and it was good to see what those ways were.

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? Got married in Sept. Went off birth control in Oct. Waited the 3 months and got PG in January

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? DH has no time to waste. I don't want him to be a grandpa age as our kids grow up, so we got started quickly. I'm just fine with it.

To each their own, but I loved it and we learned a lot about each other and how to work things out that way. Our pastor wasn't too thrilled but he was willing to let it slide, seeing as how we did so well in pre marriage counseling (with communication and such).

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? We weren't really TTC, but it was almost 3 months after we got married that we got pregnant.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? No preference. Except I wish our house was done. As it stands now, our house will be done MAYBE a few weeks before baby comes. Ack!

2. How long did you know your DH before you got married? We have known each other since 7th grade but never had a relationship more than friends until 5 years ago. We always liked each other and had a few scandalous makeout sessions, but it was bad timing for a relationship. Looking back I'm glad it happened that way because I'm sure it wouldn't have lasted and we wouldn't be where we are now.

5. If yes, do you think living together was helpful or do you wish you hadn't? I don't think it made a whole lot of difference, honestly. If anything, it was helpful.

6. How long were you married before TTC #1? We started TTC 2 months before our wedding when I realized that I would get AF on our HM. We had planned to start TTC on our HM so we just decided to start early, especially because the due date that coincided with that first month TTC worked out well for me and taking the pre-reqs for school, too.

7. Do you wish you had waited longer or started earlier? Worked out fine. I kinda wish we'd had been married longer before TTC, but it's more that I wish we could have gotten married sooner, as we were engaged for almost 2 and a half years.
