Re: HSG question

  • I felt just fine, had a bit of spotting afterward, but went right to work. You're not under any anesthesia or massive painkillers for this; just regular OTC painkillers an hour before your procedure. GL.

  • It was pretty painful for me, but I have cervical stenosis, so things of that nature are always pretty bad.. But I was able to drive myself home with no problems.  I got home and had some pretty bad cramping and laid on the sofa with my dogs for the rest of the day..   Good luck to you!!

  • Everyone is different.  I had my DH drive me since I didn't know how it was going to go.  But I ended up taking the rest of the day off work and my DH drove me to my car at work and I was able to drive home.  But I wouldn't have been able to work.  I almost passed out during the procedure.

  • I was able to drive home, but I had to sit in the car about 30 minutes before driving.  I felt all right after the procedure was done, but I was shaky because no one had warned me about the pain and I hadn't consulted dr. google or been on these boards yet.  I hope you luck out and feel next to nothing!

  • I had a bad experience with the HSG- took them 20min to get the catheter in and even then they did it by force. Very very unusual (especially since my RE has no problem getting a catheter in- I just had a terrible tech) BUT- when that part was over, the worst of the pain was totally gone. It was similar to getting blood taken. The catheter going in hurt, but afterward there is only a dull ache at worst.

I drove home without any problems. Even stopped at Starbucks for a treat. Take some ibuprofen before you go (My clinic recommended 600) and the cramping shouldn't bother you too much. I had a lazy day afterward but I didn't need to.
