buying a breast pump

I'm sure its been asked before but I'm about to buy a breast pump and I really don't want to spend 300 dollars on a nice double pump. Should I cut cost by buying a nicer single pump that is quicker or will it be just as much time to buy a less expensive slower double pump? Is it really that more convenient to have a double and do I have to totally disrobe with a double ( I will be pumping at work)? Any brand suggestions? Sorry I'm all over the place, thanks in advance ladies!

Re: buying a breast pump

  • If you are going to be pumping at work, you will want a double pump for sure.

What do you mean by a "slower" double pump? Cheaper pumps =/= slower. The Ameda Purely Yours is not as expensive as the Medela and it is a double pump that works great. It is also a closed system so you can by a used motor and just by new attachments to save money.

I agree. Pumping at work = double pump. But a cheap double =/= slow.  I loved my lansinoh pump which was very similar to the Ameda purely yours. I know you can get an APY for around $150 on diapers.com and other places, an older style Lansinoh for around $100.
