Vision Changes??

Anyone experiencing vision changes?

This past weekend, my left eye started getting really blurry... and I don't think it's getting better.

I called my doctor, she had me go check my BP, and it was well below normal or a cause for concern.  I have been checked for Pre-E a few times in the past week because I was having some swelling issues... but all tests came back negative and was given a clean bill of health.  And actually, since being tested for Pre-E and HELLP, I haven't been swelling up much at all, not even in the evenings.

I now go to the doctor weekly, since my stint in L&D 2 weeks ago, so when I go in on Weds, I'm going to follow up with her anyway.

Re: Vision Changes??

  • Mine cleared up with allergy meds.  Weird because that's never been a symptom of my season allergies before.

  • I will have to try that.  I hope it's something as simple as that.

  • Mine has gotten a little worse. No pre-e, swelling or high BP here...I read that it's just another symptom we can get and it will go back to normal in six weeks to six months after delivery.
  • I have heard that, too. I'm so paranoid of getting Pre-e that anything like swelling, and now my vision change, makes me even more paranoid.

I think I need to just relax and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy... I'm almost done!

I know... and we're completely ready!

Maybe because I don't have any of the little things to worry about, I'm making a fuss out of nothing.  But then again, it's my eye-sight... I need that!!! I want to be able to see my LO when she finally gets here! haha

  • I've had some vision changes that i've noticed as well. It started about a month or two ago. No other problems just vision. Its a pain when i'm on the computer trying to read stuff, but it doesnt bother me too much otherwise.

That's when I notice it the most or trying to read books. It's more like I have been staring at a bright light for too long and my vision is trying to adjust back.

Have you ask your doctor about it? What did they he/she say?

  • Yup!  My vision has also gotten worse.  My doctor said that it is a normal symptom in pregnancy and not to go to the eye doctor until after the baby is born.
  • I've been a bit blurry lately and my contacts have been irritating my eyes but my dr. isn't concerned since I am otherwise healthy.  Do you have any allergies?

  • I was just complaining to DH about my vision this evening.  It has gotten so much worse.  I haven't went to the eye doctor in about 4 years and really need to get new glasses but was told to wait until after I've had the babies.  I feel better knowing I'm not the only one!

  • I have had blurry vision on and off myself. When I asked my OB about it he had me immediately check my BP, which was normal, and then told me to get it checked out just in case. Apparently he has had cases where patients were not able to push during labor because of eye issues that developed during pregnancy. My appointment for the optometrist is tomorrow so I will keep you all posted on what comes up. Hopefully it's ok because I really don't want to have a C-section.

Definitely keep us posted on this.

My mom is insisting that I call my doctor tomorrow morning, even though I have a doctor's appointment on Weds.  She thinks because it's not getting any better that I should have an eye doctor check it out.  I guess it's really no big deal to put in a call tomorrow morning, just to make sure I'm doing what I can right now to keep things under control.
